Mine That Bird is getting a lot of love on the betting picks and remains the race favorite in this 2009 Belmont Stakes lineup.
It’s quite a bit different from the Kentucky Derby which saw no experts make picks on the 50/1 underdog winner but Mine That Bird has proven himself to be amongst the top contenders in this year’s lineup and that is why he is a 4/3 favorite for the Belmont.
The crazy thing about this horse is that he has looked like he still has a ton left in the gas tank in his earlier Triple Crown races and that should suit him nicely on the longer 1 ½ mile track at the Belmont Stakes.
TheOnlinewire.com teamed up with our preferred online racebooks, Bodog Racebook and SBG Global Racebook to bring our readers the latest news and the best odds to bet on each of the three legs of the Triple Crown 2009.

The good: This horse came out of nowhere to be one of the greatest horse betting picks in history with a 50/1 victory at the Kentucky Derby.
Many in the horse racing world considered it somewhat of a fluke but Mine That Bird proved to be the real deal in the Preakness despite falling just short of race favorite Rachel Alexandra. He has 5 top finishes and 2 2nd place finishes over his 10 career races and is truly one of the elite 3-year old races horses in this year’s Triple Crown lineup.
Another reason that is making him one of the most attractive Belmont picks this year is the fact that Derby-winning jockey Calvin Borel is back on top of him for this race after electing to ride Preakness winner Rachel Alexandra last time out.
Mine That Bird’s owners have also said that the Belmont was their most winnable race of the 3 big ones so you should expect big things from this horse on June 6th.
The bad: There is not much bad surrounding this horse other than the fact that he is the big race favorite. His half-brother Summer Bird is competing so maybe the two have some Jerry Springer-like animosity…?
The bottom line: This is a terrific race horse with a great shot to take home the 2009 Belmont Stakes. He has always shown to have energy left in the gas tank so the longer Belmont track should not be a problem at all.
The 4/3 betting odds are a bit high but Mine That Bird deserves to be the most favored of all picks in the 2009 Belmont lineup because of how well he’s ran in the other Triple Crown races this year.
