Rutgers vs South Florida: Scarlet Knights will cover the point spread odds

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights started out slow this season, but are now 6-2 on the year, and have moved the point spread odds in their favor in Thursday's college football contest against the South Florida Bulls.

Rutgers will be at home facing the ranked South Florida Bulls, who are also 6-2 on the season. The winner will move to 7-2 and boost their chances to get into a decent bowl game. Rutgers has caught fire of late, and should steal one regardless of the betting line.

The Scarlet Knights opened as a 1 point underdog against the college football betting odds at SBGglobal Sportsbook, but with a heavy load of money coming in on them, they are now favored by 2.5 points. Bettors have adjusted and are favoring South Florida at about 55% currently. Rutgers should not go above 3 points as a favorite, as too much money will bounce back with South Florida. The betting odds are right, and Rutgers poses a big threat against these betting odds being a home team that is a non-ranked team, facing a ranked opponent.

We have seen positive results with betting odds in games with ranked against non-ranked teams. We approve another play for this theory, with Rutgers, regardless of a dog or a favorite, they are as solid of a play as one can get this college betting season.

Some positive trends in our favor, playing on Rutgers with these odds, show South Florida as a team that has struggled against teams with a winning record. In their last 15 games against the spread against a team with a winning record, the Bulls are 4-11 against the spread. With that being said, Rutgers shows positives on their end. The Scarlet Knights are 6-1-1 against the spread in their last 8 games following an against the spread win. They also show a 9-2-1 against the spread mark in their last 12 games following a S.U. win. Rutgers has also covered the spread in 4 of their last 5 games, and should grab another cover on Thursday evening. Rutgers 27-23.
