It’s time for a betting prediction in the MLS All-Star game between the Manchester United and the Major League Soccer All-Stars.
Winning three of the last four MLS All-Star games against English Premier League talent isn’t enough to make the Major League Soccer All-Stars favorites in their match against Manchester United this evening. Betting odds at SportsInteraction Sportsbook (get up to $116 in free cash, click the link to find out their bonus offer) have Manchester United as the -143 favorites with Major League Soccer’s squad returning +300, the draw coming in at +250, and the “Over 2.5 Goals” favored at -152.
The Major League Soccer side does have some intriguing pieces that include the league’s top scorer Edson Buddle and the top assist man Landon Donovan. Both players are familiar with each other as teammates for the Los Angeles Galaxy, but beyond that the team may have issues with cooperative play once the action starts since the MLS All-Stars had just two practices together to get ready for their Premier League foes. Some know each other’s games quite well from previous All-Star games and World Cup action but they ability to play as a team won’t be able to match up against a Manchester United team that gets to practice together daily.
Manchester United is without some of their major players but they still boast a roster that looks to be just as strong as the Major League Soccer All-Stars. Paul Scholes, Dimitar Berbatov, Ryan Giggs, and Javier Hernandez are amongst the world stars slated to suit up for the MLS All-Star game. What scares me about this side is that Manchester United is still in the preseason of the Premier League and you have to wonder how hard they will play with the risk of injury being prevalent in what amounts to an exhibition game for them.
MLS All-Star game betting predictions call for a low-scoring affair and I like the positive return a bet on the “Under 2.5 Goals” would generate. Manchester United won’t go all out in a preseason game and the Major League Soccer All-Star squad has a ton of guys that are skilled but aren’t used to playing together against a team as technically strong as their English foe. I’ll call for Manchester United and the MLS All-Stars to play to a 1-1 tie after added time and a bet on the draw pays off nicely as a smaller wager.
Start time of the MLS All-Star game against Manchester United is set for 8:30 PM ET and you can catch all of the action on the ESPN 2 channel.
