American Idol 2010: Remaining contestants odds drifted after Janell Wheeler, Ashley Rodriguez, Joe Munoz and Tyler Grady got voted off.
American Idol 2010 first elimination round confirmed one of the golden rules of betting: there is never a sure bet. “La Senorita” Ashley Rodriguez is living proof of what I just said. Her odds to win American Idol season 9 opened at +700 (7/1) at SBG Global, making her one of the top favorites to win thus the shockwave caused by her early elimination.
It is very important to keep this variable in mind when betting on American Idol. This is the kind of handicapping exercise where you must trust your guts feeling over consensus.
Janell Wheeler, the other female contestant voted out in the first elimination round, had her opening odds at +1500 (15/1) which made her a mid fielder.
The two boys were outsiders from get go, Joe Munoz +6500 (65/1) and Alex Lambert +3800 (38/1).
Looking back at last week’s renditions it is truly hard to pinpoint a safe horse in my humble opinion. Going into this week round we have the following early favorites (at least according to odds makers at SBG Global):
Andrew Garcia +400: I’m with the judges on Andrew. Some truly enjoyed his rendition of "Sugar, We're Going Down" but I’m among those who weren’t completely sold. He’ll go far but he’s not in the finals, at least not in my opinion. Advise: PASS.
Katie Stevens +400: Her odds opened at +750. Not a bad rendition of "Feeling Good" but nowhere near as good as it should have been to justify this drift. She’s a big question mark in my opinion. Advise: PASS.
Casey James +500: Here is a guy with potential. Forget the love duet with Kara and focus on his rendition of “Heaven”. Casey knows what he is doing. His odds are a bit short for my taste but I’d say it would be a pity, and a mistake, to ignore them. Advise: BET.
Crystal Bowersox +500: Last week I predicted her odds would shorten quickly (she opened at +750). Can’t say I didn’t tell you so. Let’s say it then: Crystal Bowersox is just so cool. Bet her odds now because they will shorten again. She is one of the few that can make it all the way to the finals. Mark my words. Advise: BET.
Didi Benami +700: Didi’s really sweet rendition of "The Way I Am," confirm why she’s on the favorites short list. She is good. Her unique voice is going to take her far into this competition. Advise: BET.
Let’s quickly talk about the details of betting on American Idol before we continue to the mid field of this week’s odds to win American Idol season 9.
Odds are usually posted one day after each elimination round and are pulled off the board minutes before the following week’s episode goes live. This week odds will be taken down minutes before 8 P.M. ET on Tuesday, March 2nd.
My advice is to bet on American Idol odds between Monday and Tuesday. This will give you plenty of time to logon to the SBG Global website, register, make your initial deposit and get your bonus. At this time SBG Global offers a 30% sign up bonus to new customers. Bonus money will take you farther when edging your initial bets as the show goes on.
Let’s now take a look at this week’s mid-fielders in the odds to win American Idol 2010.
Lee Dewyze +900: Lee’s rendition of "Chasing Cars" was pretty good despite some pitchy moments and the disappointing performance of the chorus. He’s a decent musician and average singer but I don’t see him progressing far unless he makes radical changes. Advise: PASS.
Siobhan Magnus +900: Her rendition of "Wicked Game," was perfect. I like her, I love her voice, I like her odds. Need I say more? Advise: BET.
Lilly Scott +1200: Choosing "Fixing a Hole," saved her day. That’s just about it. She’s not bad, she’s not special. I’ve got to see more of her to make my mind up. I wouldn’t go near her odds at this time. Advise: PASS.
Aaron Kelly +1600: 16-year old Aaron Kelly story of a difficult childhood ceratinly helped making him likeable to the public however it was his great rendition of ‘Here Comes Goodbye’ to convince me that this young guy has the numbers to go well ahead in this competition. Advise: BET.
Katelyn Epperly +1800: Believe it or not I agree with the odds makers. Katelyn has a very good voice but she’s kind of ordinary, easily forgettable; maybe "Oh! Darling," was too much for her, maybe she’ll do better this week. In my opinion she is a mid-fielder and will remain as such. Advise: PASS.
Michelle Delamor +1800: Michelle was my favorite going into last week’s episode. Her rendition of "Fallin'," was just perfect and Alicia Keys’ song was everything but easy. Michelle is once again my very own favorite this week. I maybe following my guts more than balancing pros and cons but I would consider I-N-S-A-N-E passing on her odds. She may make people very happy at the end of season 9. Advise: BET.
We are now approaching those who, according to odds makers at SBG Global, have very little chances to make it much further in season 9.
Before seeing who are considered the ones more likely to be voted out this week I take the opportunity to remind you that SBG Global celebrates March Madness offering the $500,000 Madness of March Contest, held annually during the NCAA college basketball tournament for all active clients*. Log in to your account, make your bracket selections and shoot your way to $500,000 in cash prizes!
Let’s get back to business. These are the odds of those contestants thought to be the least likely to win American Idol 2010.
Lacey Brown +2500: She was good at one thing: killing "Landslide,". My God, this rendition was AWFUL. I thought she was going to get voted off. Why hasn’t she is the true question. There’s still time to do it, the sooner the better. Advise: PASS.
Alex Lambert +3000: Alex already made a fool of himself for his use of improper words at the end of last week’s eliminations, causing FOX to censor few seconds of audio during which he could be heard swearing. His rendition of "Wonderful World" was pathetic. Let’s hope he goes soon. Advise: PASS.
Todrick Hall +3300: Todrick's weird rendition of "Since U Been Gone" made the song completely unrecognizable. What’s he doing on American Idol? Most important, why is he still on? Away, I say. Advise: PASS.
Paige Miles +3300: Her rendition of "All Right Now," explains why she could become the most unlikely winner of American Idol. She may go thru a bit but won’t make it too far. Nice try for a unique contestant. Advise: PASS.
Michael Lynche +3500: Michael's rendition of "This Love" was borderline OK. Well, at least not in the top 5 worst of last week. He’s got a little bit of attitude that might work against him. Odds are spot on. Advise: PASS.
Jermaine Sellers +4000: His rendition of "Get Here" was truly painful to listen to. He just doesn't know what he is doing. He should have been sent packing last week for making my ears bleed, let's hope he gets the boot this week. Advise: PASS.
Haeley Vaughn +4500: "I Want To Hold Your Hand," wasn’t the right song for her, I trust you guys and gals agree with me. Does she has a chance to make it right? I’d call it miracle more than chance. Advise: PASS.
John Park +4500: I think he got way too nervous. His rendition of "God Bless the Child" was way below standards but, believe it or not, this kid has potential. He deserves a second shot. He'll look and sound totally different once he gets his nerves under control. Advise: BET.
Tim Urban +7000: Tim's rendition of "Apologize" can only be described as embarrassingly bad. Don’t waste time looking at his odds, he’s going home next. Advise: PASS.
OK then. Good luck with your betting this week and remember to place your American Idol 2010 bets at SBG Global. I’ll be here again Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to over this week’s renditions and upcoming eliminations. Bye now.
