WEC 43 is this upcoming Saturday so let’s take a look at the key fights and make some predictions on the betting odds.
There are many great fights at WEC 43 but the books currently only have betting odds on the main event so we’ll start our predictions with that lightweight “interim” title fight.
Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is taking on Benson “Smooth” Henderson at WEC 43 and these top lightweight contenders are likely to face off against champion Jamie “The Worm” Varner when the champ is healthy enough to defend his belt. Varner won a controversial split decision against Cerrone at WEC 38 when many thought Varner was faking his inability to continue in the later rounds following an illegal knee from “Cowboy”. Varner was getting the worst of the exchanges and predictions were looking like he would not make it to the final bell. By saying he could not continue, the fight went to the cards before the 5 rounds were complete and Varner eeked out a decision.
SBGglobal Sportsbook has the betting odds favoring Cerrone at a line of -350 while you can get Henderson at +285.
Both WEC 43 fighters have good ground skills but Cerrone is incredible off his back and Henderson does not have enough in the standup game to win there. Predictions on the betting odds call for Cerrone to start getting the edge in the exchanges before Henderson takes the fight to the mat where he is submitted via triangle choke. Cerrone will then get another shot at Varner and the betting odds in that fight will be very close.
There are still no betting odds up for the WEC 43 fight between Rich Crunkilton and Dave Jansen but we can still make betting predictions since the odds will be up any day now. Crunkilton is a well-rounded fighter whose only losses are too guys with knockout power and Jansen is not much of a standup fighter. Crunkilton has slightly better submissions and power so I’ll look for him to win the fight in the 2nd round. Predictions call for a WEC 43 knockout so keep an eye on these betting odds.
