Mine That Bird

Perhaps the best long shot underdog on the Kentucky Derby odds is Mine That Bird, even if past results have not gone his way.

With just one win over the last four starts, it’s not a big surprise that Mine That Bird is not amongst the Kentucky Derby favorites but I’m having a hard time figuring out why he is such a long shot at nearly 60/1 currently.

Coming off a 4th place finish in the Sunland Derby and a 2nd place at the Borderland Derby, it does appear to be quite a stretch for this horse to compete with the strong Kentucky Derby lineup but I don’t think we’ve seen all there is to see with this horse that won 4 straight races at one point in it’s career.

TheOnlinewire.com teamed up with our preferred online racebooks, Bodog Racebook and SBG Global Racebook to bring our readers the latest news and the best odds to bet on each of its three legs and on the 2009 edition of the Triple Crown.

Both Bodog Racebook and SBG Global Racebook provide horse wagering enthusiasts the highest wagering standards along with enticing promotions and sign up bonuses and financial safety.

One huge positive that Mine That Bird has over the Kentucky Derby lineup would be that legendary jockey Calvin Borel will be atop him for the 135th running of the Kentucky Derby.

Borel won this race in 2007 against Street Sense and with over 4000 career wins, a little veteran leadership could be just what Mine That Bird needs to propel him amongst the Kentucky Derby favorites.

Mine That Bird is coming off a promising 5 furlong work that he completed in 1:01:0 and has the pedigree with Birdstone and Grindstone in his family tree and at 50/1 on the Kentucky Derby odds, this one just might be worth a shot in hopes that the horse figures out what he needs to finish atop the Kentucky Derby lineup.

TheOnlinewire.com, in cooperation with Bodog Racebook and SBG Global Racebook, will provide daily updates, news and the latest odds on the Triple Crown 2009 and its individual legs starting with the 135th running of the Kentucky Derby on May 2nd.

Great call
I'll bet you're feeling pretty good about this prognosis now, and deservedly so. I'm still smarting from having second guessed my exact bet, switching out Mine that Bird for Friesan Fire. If only...!
