Belmont Stakes 2009

Before you decide which horse betting odds are the right choice in the 2009 Belmont Stakes you’ll want to check out this Triple Crown comparison.

The 2009 Belmont Stakes currently has Mine That Bird favored on the race odds at 6/5 with Preakness winner Rachel Alexandra not far behind at 5/2.

Dunkirk is 4/1, Charitable Man is 9/2, and Chocolate Candy is at 14/1 on the Belmont odds.  Deciding which of these race horses to bet on should be made a little easier once you figure out how this track differs from the other two tracks in the Triple Crown races (the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs and the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico).

TheOnlinewire.com teamed up with our preferred online racebooks, Bodog Racebook and SBG Global Racebook to bring our readers the latest news and the best odds to bet on each of the three legs of the Triple Crown 2009

The Preakness is the shortest leg of the 3 at just 9.5 furlongs with Rachel Alexandra taking home the title this year as the race favorite on the horse betting odds.

The Kentucky Derby is the next longest at 10 furlongs and was won by Mine That Bird who came in at some huge 50/1 horse betting odds.  This Belmont Stakes is easily the longest of the three at 12 furlongs (roughly 1.5 miles) and horses that have a ton left at the end of the race seem to do very well at this park because of the added distance available for the race horses with top-end stamina.

The Belmont Stakes is the oldest of the 3 races and started in 1867 compared to the Kentucky Derby in 1875 and the Preakness Stakes in 1873 while all three races feature 3-year old thoroughbreds on a dirt track.

The weight standards (filly at 121 pounds and colt/gelding at 126 pounds) are standard for all 3 races with the Belmont and Preakness paying $1 million each and the Kentucky Derby being the most lucrative with a $2 million purse.

Bodog Racebook and SBG Global Racebook provide horse wagering enthusiasts the highest wagering standards along with enticing promotions and sign up bonuses and financial safety.

Other possibilies on the 2009 Belmont Stakes odds are Flying Private at 20/1, Miner’s Escape at 25/1, Mr. Hot Stuff at 20/1, Summer Bird at 25/1, and Luv Guv at 40/1.  Make sure to keep an eye out for the last leg of the Triple Crown on Saturday, June 6th.
