Rachel Alexandra’s horse betting odds in the 2009 Belmont Stakes continue to dip but that’s not the only racing news of the day.
The filly winner of the Preakness Stakes opened up at 5/2 on the 2009 Belmont Stakes odds but fell to 11/4 within a day of the lines coming up and has fallen even farther in the last 24 hours.
She is currently listed at 3/1 and might dip even further amid concerns about whether she has enough left in the gas tank to hold on to a lead in the longer Belmont Stakes.
TheOnlinewire.com teamed up with our preferred online racebooks, Bodog Racebook and SBG Global Racebook to bring our readers the latest news and the best odds to bet on each of the three legs of the Triple Crown 2009.
That’s not the only thing concerning the horse betting odds on Rachel Alexandra as she is still not confirmed for the race at all.
She was out on the track running lately but owner Jess Jackson has stated a decision won’t be made until much later in the week as he continues to evaluate what type of odds his horse will have in the 1 ½ mile 3rd leg of the Triple Crown.
Mine That Bird (the Belmont favorite at 7/4 odds) was closing with a fury in the Preakness and seems ready to compete in the Belmont so it will be interesting to see whether Rachel Alexandra will be able to hold off the Kentucky Derby winner with the added distance.
Both the race favorites were on the track Tuesday morning with both going the same distance despite from wet and sloppy conditions. Mine That Bird and Rachel Alexandra each went a half-mile with the filly covering the ground quickest at 50:20 while the Derby winner coming in with a time of 51:00.
Jockey Calvin Borel was aboard Mine That Bird for the works as he continues to deliberate whether to ride his Preakness winner or his Kentucky Derby winner in the last leg of the Triple Crown. Both horses ran in Louisville.
Chocolate Candy also ran earlier this morning at Belmont Park and went 7 furlongs in a time of 1:27:34. He is currently listed on the 2009 Belmont Stakes odds as a 14/1 underdog and seems to be getting a fair amount of looks in the early going based on his potential to take a step up in performance.
