NFL Week 5 Power Rankings

Monday, October 05, 2009

There are some big movers and shakers in the week 5 edition of the 2009 NFL power rankings.

We’ve outlined the top ten NFL teams as we head into week 5 and these power rankings show you who the real contenders are after 4 weeks.  We’re putting up the NFL power rankings after every week this season so be sure to bookmark us and check back next week.

NFL power rankings for week 5:

1.       New Orleans Saints (4-0) – The Saints easily defeated the previously undefeated New York Jets and sit on top of our week 5 NFL power rankings with a perfect record.

2.       Indianapolis Colts (4-0) – Indianapolis is perfect as well but their victories have not been nearly as impressive as what the Saints have done.

3.       New York Giants (4-0)  - The Giants have played great but it’s still too early to know how Eli Manning’s ankle injury will affect the team.

4.       New England Patriots (3-1) – New England looked good in their victory over the previously undefeated Ravens and it appears that their offense is back.

5.       New York Jets (3-1) – The Jets fall quite a bit in the week 5 NFL power rankings after looking poorly against the Saints.

6.       Minnesota Vikings (3-0) - Minnesota still has their Monday night game against the Packers to worry about but this team is for real.

7.       San Francisco 49ers (3-1) – The 49ers’ only loss was the last second touchdown pass in week 3 and San Francisco won 35-0 last time out.

8.       Baltimore Ravens (3-1) - Baltimore looks like a main contender this season but they fall down the week 5 NFL power rankings after their loss to the Patriots.

9.       Denver Broncos (4-0) – Denver is undefeated and many will argue that they deserve a higher spot in the power rankings.  I’m still not sold.

10.   Chicago Bears (3-1) – Chicago started off shaky but that offense is finally going and they debut on the power rankings at #10.

Those are your week 5 NFL power rankings.  Bet on any of these teams in NFL action at BoDog Sportsbook.

Do you want cheese with your whine?
Chris is right. Denver is about results, not excuses. Winners Win, and looser's Whine.

Denver Sucks again
Once Denver plays a real team they will lose for sure, and Dallas does not count in my book in thsi debate. Steelers, Ravens, Chargers, or the Patriots would all blow Denver out of the water. PS: and the Bengals ran and threw the ball all day on Denver, just not many points.

Denver is actually really bad
Cincininnati held the Broncos to 6 points all game and the Bengals scored 7. We're not counting fluke plays just yet.

Stop drinking the haterade
So the Broncos hold a 3-1 Bengals team to zero points in the first 58 minutes, an in-division Oakland team to 3 points, the Browns to 3 points (Yeah, easy), and the best rushing attack in the league to 77 yards (and 10 total points), and you still aren't convinced yet? They are +7 in turnovers, Fumbling it thrice and getting intercepted once, taking it away 3 times a game on average, and you're still not convinced yet? When will you be convinced? Will it be when they beat the Patriots, or will you just blame that on Tom Brady not being the same? Will it be when we beat the Chargers, or is it that banged up offensive line? What about the Steelers? No, of course the Broncos can beat them, Troy Palumolu is out! The Colts? The Eagles? The Giants? What if we go 12-4, are you still not convinced? The team is for real. If you don't think so, you obviously haven't actually watched any game, just the highlights.
