It’s time to make our predictions against the betting odds in the big Canada vs Slovakia ice hockey matchup in the Winter Olympics.

We’ve been handicapping the betting odds in the Slovakia vs Canada semi-final ice hockey game for the past few hours, and our predictions are ready in the matchup that will determine who Team USA faces in the Vancouver gold medal game.

The United States’ hockey team advanced to the Winter Olympics’ final after easily dispatching of Finland by a score of 6-1 earlier in the day.  The only thing that’s left to figure out is whether Canada or Slovakia will be the team facing the USA in Sunday’s hockey final.

5Dimes Sportsbook has the hockey odds ready to go in the game between Canada and Slovakia, and it’s not a big surprise to see the Canadians as the overwhelming favorites heading into Friday night’s action.  Canada is listed as the -977 favorite to win in regulation, and the -720 favorite to win in either regulation or overtime, while Slovakia returns +639 and +510 respectively.  There are also odds ready for betting predictions on the combined final score with the number being over or under 6.

Slovakia has been a pleasant surprise during Olympic hockey action, and it would be one of the largest upsets in Winter Games history if they can knock off Canada.  I don’t recall the betting odds when the USA knocked off the Soviet Union during the “miracle on ice”, but I’d assume is fairly close to that memorable Winter Olympics upset.

Our betting predictions in the Canada vs Slovakia hockey matchup have to be to go with the host country.  Slovakia has been a great story, and they’ve played surprisingly well, but Team Canada will be just too strong in their home digs with revenge on their mind against the United States.
