Macau Casinos revenue up 44.6% year-on-year in the first half 2011

Macau gaming and gambling revenues reached USD 15.515 billion in the first six months of 2011, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (GICB) stated.
The first six months od 2011 result represents a year-on-year rise of 44.6 percent. However, information pertaining June 2011 showed a decrease of 14.4% against the revenues for May 2011. Nevertheless, June 2011 are up 52.4% against June 2010.
Hong Kong residents are Macau's second casino patrons, after mainland Chinese. A recent study commissioned by the Hong Kong Jockey Club estimates Hong Kong residents gambled an estimate USD 2,95 billion in 2010 alone, up 110% from the estimated 2005 spent.
There are 34 casinos operating in the former Portuguese colony, of which 3 belong to Venetian Macau, one to Wynn and one to MGM International. All three Las Vegas operators widely benefit from the outstanding performance of their Macau based properties.
