2011 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup – Horse Racing Tips:

Joel Rosario won on Harmonious in 2010, while James Graham on Hot Cha Cha in 2009 and John Velazquez on Alwajeeha in 2008 were other recent winners.  Those jockeys are not on any mounts in the 2011 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup, making John Velazquez the last rider to win this race.  He won it in 2007 on Bit of Whimsy, and he’ll be aboard race favorite Winter Memories this time around.

Although it was not a surprise to see the highly-touted Winter Memories as the favorite here, it is interesting to note that the Keeneland odds makers hold Summer Soiree in such high regard.  The Del Mar Oaks winner has taken 1st in both of her races since switching over to turf, but one has to wonder how much that outside post position will affect her ability to run a good race.

It will be interesting to see how Nereid rebounds after taking 3rd in the Del Mar Oaks last time out after finishing 1st in her previous 3 races.  The Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup odds seem to point toward a better effort in this race, but it’s tough to tell if she’s up for the talented field that Keeneland has to offer here.
