2011 Alabama Stakes: Post Positions and Odds

Let’s check out the newly released post positions and morning line odds for the 2011 Alabama Stakes.

The draw for post positions was held today and morning line odds were released shortly thereafter in the 2011 Alabama Stakes from Saratoga Race Course.  I see plenty of value in the odds for the Alabama Stakes and will be releasing my horse racing picks on the winner and the trifecta tomorrow.  For now, we’ll just preview the post positions and morning line odds in an effort to ensure that our readers are as knowledgeable as possible about this great race.

The one thing that is interesting about the Alabama Stakes post positions is that just about every horse has an ideal spot in the starting gate.  Plum Pretty figures to be the pace setter and she’s locked in at the #3 spot in the post positions, while late runners like St. John’s River and Inglorious should be happy with their outside spots.  Moderate stalker Royal Delta isn’t in an ideal spot at the far inside but should be okay, while It’s Tricky has to like being right next to Plum Pretty since he’ll be on her tail for most of the race.

I’m a bit surprised to see Plum Pretty at 2-1 odds since I had her pegged at more of a 4-1 or 5-1 horse, while Inglorious looks horribly undervalued at 6-1.  St. John’s River has Alabama Stakes odds that are about what I expected, while Royal Delta seems a tick overpriced at 6-1.  It’s Tricky is a deserving favorite at 9-5 and Pinch Pie, as expected, is the Alabama Stakes long shot at 15-1.  Check out our Alabama Stakes horse racing tips if you’d like additional information on the 2011 entries, and be sure to check back on Friday for our betting picks on the winner and the trifecta.
