2011 Breeders' Cup Classic Picks: Winner and Trifecta

2011 Breeders' Cup Classic Picks

Our 2011 Breeders’ Cup Classic picks are ready on both the winner and the trifecta box.

Post time of the 2011 Breeders’ Cup Classic is set for 7:00 PM ET today and we hope that our horse racing picks will win everyone some easy money.  The Breeders’ Cup Classic is a 1 ¼-mile race on dirt for 3-and-older horses, and it will be run at Churchill Downs this year.  Tune in to the ESPN channel if you want to watch the Breeders’ Cup Classic live.

With the withdrawal of #1 Prayer For Relief because of a fever, we are left with 12 horses running for their portion of the $5,000,000 purse in the 2011 Breeders’ Cup Classic.  Our picks will breakdown the pace scenario and then tell you who we believe will take home top honors in one of the world’s greatest horse races.

All of the Breeders’ Cup Classic odds listed below are from 5Dimes Sportsbook, and we highly recommend placing your bets there.  Not only do they offer much better payouts than a local track, but they are also offering customers who sign-up through our link a 50% cash bonus on top of their first deposit.  Grab your free money and get ready to bet on the Breeders’ Cup Classic!

2011 Breeders’ Cup Classic – Horses, Post Positions, and Odds:

2 – Flat Out, 5-1

3 – Drosselmeyer, 16-1

4 – Ruler On Ice, 13-1

5 – So You Think, 5-1

6 – Ice Box, 34-1

7 – Rattlesnake Bridge, 26-1

8 – Game On Dude, 11-1

9 – Stay Thirsty, 11-1

10 – Havre de Grace, 4-1

11 – Headache, 30-1

12 – Uncle Mo, 6-1

13 – To Honor and Serve, 11-1

2011 Breeders’ Cup Classic Picks – Trifecta Box:

Flat Out, 5-1

So You Think, 5-1

Rattlesnake Bridge, 26-1

It looks like Game On Dude, Uncle Mo, and To Honor and Serve will all be vying for the early lead, while Havre de Grace, Stay Thirsty, and So You Think stay close to the pace.  Flat Out, Headache, Ruler On Ice, Drosselmeyer, and Ice Box will be coming on late while stalking the pace or closing with a big push.

The first horses I am tossing from contention in the 2011 Breeders’ Cup Classic are To Honor and Serve and Uncle Mo.  These two need the lead to succeed, and they’ll have to expel too much energy from their outside spots in the starting gate to hold off the wall of horses coming at them in the final furlong.  Uncle Mo is a great horse but there are too many factors working against him.

Headache, Ice Box, and Game On Dude also get tossed.  Headache just isn’t as quality of a horse as the other Breeders’ Cup Classic entries, Ice Box has been out of form badly for the better part of a year, and Game On Dude won’t be able to keep his speed going wire-to-wire.

Stay Thirsty, Ruler On Ice, Drosselmeyer, and Havre de Grace are also out.  These are 4 great horses but ultimately I think the rest of the field is in better spots to do well in the Breeders’ Cup Classic.  Havre de Grace is extremely tough to toss because I think she is one of the best in the 2011 field, but ultimately her 3-1 odds just don’t justify her actual shot at winning.

2011 Breeders’ Cup Classic Picks – Winner:

So You Think, 5-1

Many people will call me crazy for going with a horse that has never ran on dirt, but this New Zealand/European invader is the cream of the crop in my opinion.  His turf outings are almost certain to carry over onto the dirt of Churchill Downs, and I think Aiden O’Brien finally gets the Breeders’ Cup Classic win he’s been searching for.

Look for Flat Out to be coming hard toward the end while Rattlesnake Bridge and So You Think battle it out at the front.  Rattlesnake Bridge is a live underdog at those odds, but ultimately the leg kick of So You Think will propel him to victory.  He’ll be in a great spot when the horses turn for home, and he’s our pick to win the 2011 Breeders’ Cup Classic.
