2011 Breeders' Cup Ladies Classic - Horse Racing Picks
Written by Jake Thompson
Friday, 04 November 2011 17:34

Horse racing picks on the winner of the 2011 Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic are ready before post time.
Our coverage of this weekend’s Breeders’ Cup races starts with the 2011 Ladies Classic, and we’ll release horse racing picks on both the winner and the trifecta box. Churchill Downs will host the 2011 Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic, and the race is a 1 1/8-mile run on dirt for 3-and-older females. The 9 entries will be running for their share of the $2,000,000 purse with a post time of 7:30 PM ET on Friday.
The big horse racing news surrounding the 2011 Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic today is that Medaglia d’Amour has been scratched from the list of entries because of a fever. The Wilshire winner had drawn the #9 spot in the starting gate, and Churchill Downs had made her a 30-1 long shot on the morning line odds.

1 – Miss Match, 11-1
2 – Pachattack, 13-1
3 – It’s Tricky, 5-1
4 – Satans Quick Chick, 53-1
5 – Ask The Moon, 9-1
6 – Royal Delta, 5-2
7 – Ultra Blend, 5-1
8 – Plum Pretty, 3-1
9 – Super Espresso, 25-1
2011 Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic – Preview of the Entries:
Miss Match – Hasn’t finished better than 3rd in her last 4 races this year, but did win the Santa Margarita to kick 2011 off. She’s raced against males in her last 2 starts, while having to go up against Blind Luck or Havre de Grace in the other 2. Miss Match isn’t a star, but she’s an underrated stalker because of her recent competition.
Pachattack – This daughter of Pulpit has raced sparingly on dirt and lost to her Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic foe Ask The Moon in her only start on the surface. Look for Pachattack to stalk the pace, but I don’t think she will have enough in this talented field.
It’s Tricky – She finished behind Plum Pretty in the Fitz Dixon Cotillion and Royal Delta in the Alabama, but It’s Tricky has also beaten both horses in previous races. She’ll either take the lead or be in the first group, right in back of Plum Pretty and Ask The Moon.
Satans Quick Chick – She hasn’t finish outside the top 4 in her last 4 races, but Satans Quick Chick also hasn’t won since 7 races ago. If the pace is quick, keep an eye on his deep closer to be making up distance in a hurry toward the end.
Ask The Moon – She took 1st in the Ruffian and the Personal Ensign over Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic entries Pachattack and Super Espresso, but came up in 6th last time out in the Lady’s Secret. This pace setter will be up near the lead and trying to hold her speed throughout.
Royal Delta – Has won 3 of her last 5 starts and hasn’t finished outside of the money in any of those 5 despite facing top talent. She’s shown a versatile style and can either stalk the pace or fall way back before making an early move to get up near the lead with plenty of kick left.
Ultra Blend – Hasn’t raced much on dirt but this California synthetic runner also hasn’t finished outside of 3rd in her 3 career starts on the surface. Ultra Blend is a deeper stalker that should have plenty of late run when asked to move around the final turn.
Plum Pretty – This early speedster should be on the lead and it will be interesting to see if she can go wire-to-wire. She won the Kentucky Oaks on this track earlier this year and has been running with top competition ever since.
Super Espresso – Allaire Dupont Distaff winner hasn’t won in her last 4 starts, and you have to question her form after 5th and 10th place finishes most recently. This horse doesn’t impress me and I won’t be using her in my Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic picks.
2011 Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic Picks – Trifecta Box:
Satans Quick Chick, 53-1
It’s Tricky, 5-1
Ultra Blend, 5-1
Plum Pretty will have to expel too much energy starting from this far outside with so many other speedsters, and that will throw her off in a poor effort. Royal Delta, the Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic favorite, wasn’t an easy toss but I just don’t think there is any value there. It’s Tricky has the best chance to finish strong in the first group of horses, Ultra Blend will be coming on strong after a hot pace, and Satans Quick Chick has the closing style to make a big move.
2011 Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic Picks – Winner:
It’s Tricky, 5-1
A part of me really wants to use my 2011 Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic picks on Satans Quick Chick as such a huge underdog, but the wise horse racing bettor in me is saying to go with a horse that is set up perfectly to win. Look for It’s Tricky to hold off her fast approaching rivals in the final furlong.
