2011 Travers Stakes: Post Positions Draw Results

We have results from Saratoga after the 2011 Travers Stakes post positions draw just wrapped up.

The 10 horses slated to start in the 2011 Travers Stakes on August 27th now know their post positions, and we’ll give our own thoughts on this great Saratoga race now that the draw has completed.  It’s going to be a very interesting race with likely pace setter Shackleford starting from the far outside in the post positions.  This could affect the pace scenario and produce some big underdogs in the top 3, but you’ll have to wait until later in the week for our horse racing picks on the 2011 Travers Stakes.

2 – Rattlesnake Bridge

3 – Moonshine Mullen

4 – Ruler On Ice

5 – Malibu Glow

6 – Raison d’Etat

7 – Coil

8 – JW Blue

9 – Stay Thirsty

10 – Shackleford

The favorite here has to be Haskell Stakes winner Coil, although Shackleford starting from the far outside will definitely have me focusing on some underdogs since it’s tough for a pace setter to cross all that traffic early and still have enough left in the tank to dominate.  Shackleford’s name alone will have him amongst the favorites thanks to that 2011 Preakness Stakes win and I’m leaning toward fading him at this point.  Stay Thirsty should have a nice run here while 2011 Belmont Stakes winner Ruler On Ice will thrive if the track is a little off.
