Horse Racing Picks: 2011 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup

2011 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup

Horse racing picks on the winner and trifecta in the 2011 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup are ready.

Keeneland will be hosting the 2011 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup on Saturday, and our horse racing picks on the winner and the trifecta box are ready before the 5:45 PM ET post time.  The Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup has attracted a strong field of eight 3-year-old fillies that are set to run 1 1/8-miles on turf, and it has been tough to decide on the top 3 entries.  Our horse racing picks for the winner of the 2011 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup were, however, extremely simple, and we’ll explain why below.

Make sure to bet on the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup at 5Dimes Sportsbook to get your chunk of the 50% cash bonus they are giving away to new customers.  These guys allow you to bet on tracks from all over the country on a daily basis, and you simply are not going to find any sort of free money at your local off the board.

2011 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup – Post Positions, Odds, and Horses:

1 – Star Billing, 6-1

2 – Together, 5-1

3 – Winter Memories, 9-5

4 – Marketing Mix, 20-1

5 – Nereid, 6-1

6 – More Than Real, 12-1

7 – Kathmanblu, 15-1

8 – Summer Soiree, 2-1

2011 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup – Horse Racing Picks – Trifecta Box:

Star Billing, 6-1

Winter Memories, 9-5

Together, 5-1

Summer Soiree is the 2nd choice in the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup, as well as the likely pace setter, but there are plenty of other horses that will be pushing her early.  Nereid, Star Billing, More Than Real, and Marketing Mix will all make a push for the lead and I’m expecting a fast pace that will set up the closers and stalkers.

Winter Memories and Together are the only 2 horses in the race that fit that billing, and I’m expecting both to make it in my trifecta box here.  Summer Soiree has shown excellently since switching over to turf but I feel that all the traffic at the front will cause her some problems since she is best when left alone to run.

Star Billing was the 3rd choice in my trifecta box because of her style and longer odds than some of the other horses that will be near the lead.  She has shown she’s capable of staying a bit further back than the other pace setters and that should allow Star Billing to have a bit more left in the tank for the final furlongs.

2011 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup – Horse Racing Picks – Winner:

Winter Memories, 9-5

I love Winter Memories to win the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup so much that I’d still make her my choice at 5-9 odds.  Her style sets up absolutely perfectly for the pace scenario I’m expecting, and she’s the best horse in the field.  Her jockey, Javier Castellano, was the last jockey in the 2011 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup to previously win this race, and the #3 spot in the starting gate should ensure she gets the position she wants to make her big, late move.  There are some great entries in the 2011 field, but I feel that Winter Memories will blow them all away.  This will be one of my largest horse racing wagers of the year, if not the biggest of them all.
