The Venetian Resort and Casino Sues Tea Party Nation over unpaid bills

Holy Cannoli! The Good Ole Tea Party boys are sued by the Venetian in Las Vegas over unpaid bills.

Now this is juicy; in the case filed in Clark County District Court Las Vegas Sands Corp., owner of The Venetian, allege Tea Party Nation reserved 1,637 room nights in the Palazzo hotel from July 14 to July 18, 2010.

The original reservation includes an agreement by Tea Party Nation to pay the resort $579,148 in the event of a cancellation, which is what happened. The event was first postponed until October of the same year and eventually canceled.

The result is that Las Vegas Sands Corp. alleges the Tea Party Nation Corporation of Franklin, Tenn., owes $579,148 for canceling the event plus 18 percent interest charge of $87,996. The Tea Party Nation boys allegedly owe The Venetian whopping $642,144!

Why did these guys cancel the event? According to the Daily Caller, at the pre-registration time there too few people willing to pay $399 for a weekend pass to listen to what Tea Party speakers had to say.

Now that is embarrassing, isn't it?

Well, even more embarrassing is that Las Vegas Sands CEO Sheldon Adelson is a significant Republican political donor. So what went wrong between the fine folks of Tea Party Nation and The Venetian? Hard to say.

Benjamin Spillman of the Las Vegas Review Journal gave the Tea Party boys the opportunity to give their side of the story. Judson Phillips of Tea Party Nation said he has not seen the lawsuit and would not comment on the accusations.

I'm a woman, which means my sixth sense is over developed per se. I'm pretty sure these guys have been going back and forth for months over this debt. They could not reach an agreement, so they escalated to a public standoff.

No wonder the Tea Party dudes could care less if the U.S. Government were to run out of money on August 3rd. The already allegedly stiffed a Las Vegas Casino, why not stiff the whole Nation next!
