2011 Wyndham Championship: Pairings, Golf Odds, & Predictions

Let’s preview the 2011 Wyndham Championship with golf odds, pairings, and some tournament predictions.

The 2011 Wyndham Championship golf tournament is set to get started on Thursday, August 18th, and we wanted to update our readers with the latest news regarding pairings and betting odds.  We’ll also make a few predictions on the best bets to make, and we hope our perfect run through the PGA Championship will stay intact during the Wyndham Championship.  The golf event was established in 1938 and is played at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina.

There are a few Wyndham Championship pairings that stand out above the rest.  Anthony Kim, Retief Goosen, and Johnson Wagner’s pairing could easily produce the 2011 winner, while the group of Paul Casey, Padraig Harrington, and Justin Leonard should receive plenty of TV time.  Other interesting pairings at the 2011 Wyndham Championships include Ernie Els, Camilo Villegas, and Cameron Beckman, David Toms, Bill Haas, and Webb Simpson, Lucas Glover, Jim Furyk, and Vijay Singh, and finally Ian Poulter, Ben Crane, and Chris Kirk.

The Wyndham Championship betting odds show plenty of value in former winners if you think any of the recent victors can add another title onto their resume’.  Arjun Atwal was the 2010 Wyndham Championship winner and can be had at 130-1 odds, while 2008 winner Carl Pettersson is at 55-1.  Davis Love III, who won the Wyndham Championship in 1992 and 2006, is at 60-1 while another two-time winner, Rocco Mediate (1993 and 2002) can be had at a huge price of 650-1.

The golf odds have David Toms as the 2011 Wyndham Championship favorite at 11-1, with Webb Simpson at 19-1, Bill Haas at 23-1, 2007 winner Brandt Snedeker at 24-1, Charles Howell III at 28-1, Brendon de Jonge at 32-1, Kyle Stanley at 35-1, and Anthony Kim at 38-1.  Jim Furyk, Lucas Glover, and Spencer Levin are each at 40-1, while Jason Dufner and Trevor Immelman sit at 44-1.

My bet here will be on Webb Simpson at 19-1 odds to win the Wyndham Championship.  Although my only PGA Championship bet was for Y.E. Yang to finish higher than the youngster, I am backing Simpson in this tournament.  The bright lights and intense scrutiny that the major provided shouldn’t affect Webb here, and he’s one of the most complete golfers in the sport today.  He’s well overdue for a tournament win and I think he’ll play much better golf now that the stress level isn’t as high.  I'm also taking a shot on Angel Cabrera at 110-1 odds for no other reason than I have a gut feeling and like big underdogs.
