2012 Pro Bowl: Rosters & Odds

Pro Bowl

Let’s take a look at the 2012 Pro Bowl rosters and see if there isn’t a good bet to make on these odds.

The 2012 Pro Bowl will be played out on January 29th at the Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii, and there are some big names who originally made the game that won’t be on the active rosters come game time.  Start time of the Pro Bowl is 7:00 PM ET and you’ll want to tune in to the NBC channel to catch the live NFL action.

Before we even start looking at the rosters, let’s check out the 2012 Pro Bowl odds currently up at Bovada Sportsbook.  The NFC is a 3.5-point favorite on the spread, while the total in the Pro Bowl this year sits high at 72.  The NFC squad has won 3 of the last 4 Pro Bowls, while the last 2 games went over this year’s total.  Click on the link we just provided to Bovada Sportsbook and you’ll receive a 100% cash bonus (up to $125 in free money) when you bet on the Pro Bowl!

A big part of the reason why the NFC is the favorite here has to do with the fact that their quarterbacks are much more impressive.  Although they do lose Eli Manning who is playing in the Super Bowl, the group of Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, and Cam Newton easily bests the AFC roster of Ben Roethlisberger, Philip Rivers, and Andy Dalton.

The AFC team also will be without Super Bowl starters Wes Welker, Rob Gronkowski, Logan Mankins, Brian Waters, Vince Wilfork, and Matthew Slater.  Other than Manning, the only other missing New York Giant on the NFC Pro Bowl roster will be defensive lineman Jason Pierre-Paul.

As if all those losses weren’t bad enough for the AFC Pro Bowl team, they also have some injuries that have knocked out some star players.  Running backs Ray Rice and Arian Foster have been replaced with Ryan Mathews and Willis McGahee, while Jake Long, Maurkice Pouncey, Andre Carter, Terrell Suggs, and Troy Polamalu are also expected to miss action.  Injuries for the AFC Pro Bowl roster are minimal and include John Kuhn, Calvin Johnson, Lance Briggs, and Brian Urlacher.
