Boxing Odds & Predictions: Amir Khan vs. Zab Judah

Its time to review the boxing odds for the fight of Amir Khan vs. Zab Judah scheduled for July 23rd at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

WBA World super lightweight champion, odds makers favourite British Amir Khan, and IBF light welterweight champion, American Zab Judah, meet in a unification bout for the IBF and WBA Light Welterweight Titles this Saturday in Las Vegas.

The bout takes place in the prestigious Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. American fans can watch the fight on HBO, while British supporters can watch Amir Khan vs. Zab Judah on Primetime. The bout will also be broadcast in Australia on Main Event, Russia on NTV Plus, while Middle Eastern fans will be able to see it on Al Jazeera Sports.

Odds makers have Amir Khan massive favourite to win over Zab Judah. Amir Khan betting odds are currently sitting at -480 (5/24), while Zab Judah's boxing odds currently are +390 (39/10). Before we bet on the Amir Khan vs. Zab Judah fight odds, let's take a closer look at both contenders and make some predictions together.

Currently ranked #2 by The Ring Magazine, Amir Khan is 25-1 with 17 KOs. Khan's only loss so far is in the fight against Breidis Prescott, who knocked him in the first round. Ever since, people have been questioning Khan's ability to take shots to the chin. More doubts came about in the last three rounds of his fight against Marcos Maidana, who dealt Khan some heavy-handed blows. Amir Khan pulled to success in this match, but doubts remain whether the bout could have gone differently had Maidana not waited till the final rounds. Legendary trainer Freddie Roach will have to prepare Amir Khan on how to deal with Judah's speed.

Boxing experts say Zab Judah's will be fighting on two fronts this Saturday night; on one side Amir Khan, on the other his greatest enemy: himself. The 33-year-old champion has quite a history of in-fight breakdowns. Some recall with horror his fight against Carlos Baldomir. It was to be a walk in the park for Judah; instead, he went on to lose a unanimous decision. However, it must also be said that Judah has not experienced a single breakdown in the last three years.

Despite his age handicap, Judah fighting style still features speed and a high level of energy from start to finish. This aspect is something all opponents, Amir Khan included, shall keep into consideration at all times.

Lets now make some betting predictions for this fight. The age factor is in favour of Khan (24 vs. 33). Speed is in Judah's favour. Fighting Styles, albeit different, is not favouring any of the two opponents. The weak spots then: Khan might experience endurance problems while Judah might be subject to a breakdown.

I think two opposite predictions are the sensible choice for this bout. The head says Amir Khan, the heart says Zab Judah; it all comes down to a matter of personal choice I guess.
