CFL Week 3 Betting Preview

Week 3 of the Canadian Football League starts Thursday, July 14 which means we are just in time to make a preview on the top CFL games.

First up are the Blue Bombers, who host the Calgary Stampeders to kick off the week on Thursday night. The Bombers beat the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 24-16 on the road in Week 1, then slipped past the Toronto Argonauts 22-16 at home last week.

Winnipeg also covered the spread in both of those games to pay off ATS for their supporters. Calgary is 1-1 both SU and ATS on the season after losing to Toronto in Week 1 then beating the British Columbia Lions in Week 2.

Winnipeg has come a long way since casting +1500 betting odds to win the Grey Cup in 2011. They are now undefeated, a most remarkable 2-0. It looks like the secret of the Blue Bombers resides in having the best defense in the CFL at this time.

The Stampeders opened as 3-point road favorites with a total of 52.5. Although Winnipeg lost to Calgary twice last year the Blue Bombers might as well be the underdog to bet.

Friday has the Alouettes (2-0 SU, 1-1 ATS) hosting the Argonauts (1-1 SU, 1-1 ATS), with Montreal getting past British Columbia and Saskatchewan to start the season.

Als QB Anthony Calvillo has tied the CFL record for all-time TD passes and can break the mark this week – 'Yes' on that prop bet sits at -1200 betting odds, with 'No' the mighty underdog at +650.

Saturday's first game features a pair of teams looking for their first wins when the Tiger-Cats (0-2 SU, 0-2 ATS) get a visit from the Saskatchewan Roughriders (0-2 SU, 0-2 ATS).

To most football fans in Canada the name Darian Durant is most likely unfamiliar. Durant, of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, is one of the most dangerous weapons in all of the CFL, despite being just 5’11’’.

Last season, he threw for over 5,500 yards to top the league, as well as running for another 618. His 32 total touchdowns were the most of his career, and the reason why Saskatchewan made it all the way to the Grey Cup for the second straight year. Whenever betting on the CFL, look out for Darian Duran's name. He is the man to bet.

Edmonton (2-0 SU, 2-0 ATS) then hosts British Columbia (0-2 SU, 1-1 ATS) to close out the week that night.

The Lions do not run the ball often. Period. In two weeks, they’ve registered 19 rushes for 102 yards. BC has allowed the most points in the league to date and has a 2-0 over/under record. The BC Lions have been the safest pick this season as spreads moved their way each of the first two weeks.
