Saturday MLB Best Bet: Indians vs. Rangers

Indians Rangers

We’ll go for 8 in a row with our Saturday MLB best bet between the Indians and the Rangers.

The Cleveland Indians (55-55) and the Texas Rangers (63-50) are set for 8:05 PM ET, and this American League game has been selected as the MLB best bet for Saturday.  Online sportsbooks have the MLB odds favoring the home-team Rangers at -210 odds with the total set at over or under 9.5 runs.  Tracked MLB bettors are taking Texas at around a 65% ratio and we’ll tell you if they are on the right side of the action.

The Rangers have a 36-21 record at home this season and have beaten Cleveland in 19 of their last 26 head-to-head meetings.  Left-hander C.J. Wilson (10-5, 1.23 WHIP, 3.38 ERA) draws the start for Texas and the southpaw has been struggling a bit lately (5.74 ERA over his last 3 starts).  The Indians are still without center fielder Grady Sizemore and right fielder Shin-Soo Choo, and as a result have hit just .232 over their last 10 games.  Wilson threw a 7.2 inning shutout against the Indians earlier in the year but I am a bit concerned that his arm is tiring.

Cleveland will counter with right-hander Fausto Carmona (5-11, 1.37 WHIP, 5.31 ERA).  Unlike Wilson, Carmona is hitting on all cylinders and has a 2.79 ERA over his last 3 starts despite only getting the win credited in 1 of those games.  The Rangers hit a dynamite .289 at home and have continued to hit well despite losing third baseman Adrian Beltre for their last 13 games.  Carmona has lost his last 5 starts against Texas but has pitched lights out in 2 of his 3 career starts in Texas.

We are going to roll the dice with this MLB best bet and go with the Indians as 2-1 underdogs tonight.  Carmona has been doing well and will hopefully have enough in the tank to limit the hard-hitting Rangers to only a few runs.  Wilson’s performances of late indicate that something is wrong and I’m hoping the injury-depleted Indians can take advantage of that.  After winning 7 straight we are playing with house money and I don’t feel bad about taking a chance with a large underdog here.  Texas is being overvalued and we’ll just have to cross our fingers that Wilson struggles once again.
