The Barclays Preview: Pairings, PGA Golf Odds, & Predictions

Let’s preview the 2011 Barclays with PGA golf odds, pairings, and predictions on the winner of the tournament.

Although the 2011 Barclays doesn’t kick off until this weekend, it’s never too early to preview the PGA golf odds and pairings while making some predictions.  We hit a 19-1 bet on Webb Simpson to win the Wyndham Championship last time out and hope to duplicate our success in the 2011 Barclays from Plainfield Country Club in Edison, New Jersey.  Make sure to sign up at one of our online sportsbooks if you want to win some money alongside us!

There are a number of interesting pairings at the 2011 Barclays, with 7:15 AM ET being the first tee time of the tournament.  The best-known pairings at the Barclays will be Sergio Garcia, Jim Furyk, and Harrison Frazar, Adam Scott, Jason Day, and Bill Haas, Bubba Watson, David Toms, and K.J. Choi, Webb Simpson, Steve Stricker, and Nick Watney, Phil Mickelson, Luke Donald, and Keegan Bradley, Ernie Els, Billy Mayfair, and David Hearn, Davis Love III, Stewart Cink, and Ricky Barnes, and Rickie Fowler, Charles Howell III, and D.A. Points.

As you can see in the 2011 Barclays odds below, the pairings most likely to produce a winner are Luke Donald’s, Steve Stricker’s, and Adam Scott’s.  In fact, those pairings have the top 7 Barclays favorites amongst the golfers.  Matt Kuchar won the Barclays in 2010 while Heath Slocum was the 2009 winner.  Vijay Singh has taken home wins in this tournament twice since 2006 while Steve Stricker (2009) and Padraig Harrington (2005) are also former winners in the field this year.

Although the favorites have all been playing strong golf lately, my two Barclays bets will be on Sergio Garcia at 44-1 and Vijay Singh at 90-1.  Both have won the Barclays more than once and I like the experience they provide on what can be a tough course to play.  Singh just missed a tournament win last time out in the Wyndham while Garcia has played consistently strong golf and I just feel that he’s ready to finally claim a 2011 victory.
