The Open Championship | Outright Revised Markets

With Round 3 first Tee Times just hours away lets take a quick look at today's British Open outright revised markets.

Like I did yesterday, I am using Stan James Golf Betting Odds to compare apples to apples when it comes to outright markets revisions.

Martin Kaymer remains odds makers favourite, his outright price going from 10/1 yesterday to 6/1 today. I have no problem with this. As some may recall, Kaymer was on my top four contenders short list.

Rory McIlroy has a lot of work to do to pay off for anyone who bet his odds. However, he is now back in outright markets rank 2 at 8/1, from yesterday's 12/1. Like I said yesterday, his star may not be shining brightly, but it is still too early to write him off.

Bjorn Thomas is one of the major fallers. Again, I raised my doubts about the Dane in my review of yesterday. Odds makers seem to share them. Thomas has fallen from 16/1 yesterday to 22/1 today.

The British Open 2011 fairytale is the other biggest faller of the day. Sometimes miracles do happen, sometimes they just do not. Tom Lewis he dropped four shots to par, ending his second round 74. Bookies slashed Lewis' odds from 25/1 yesterday to 66/1 today.

Let's now take a look at the top of the leaderboard. First we have Darren Clarke, also known as the wrong Irishman in the right place. He flew in from Long Shots Land (25/1), where he was yesterday, all the way to 14/1 today.

The American Lucas Glover follows suite. He was 25/1 in yesterday's outright markets, he is now refreshingly rank 4 at 16/1. I'd like to make the honour of recognition to one of my favourite underdogs, Phil Mickelson. He opened at 40/1. He is at 25/1 today. He still has my vote of faith as best underdog in this 2011 Open Championship.

With little time left for betting on today's outright markets, let's quickly view other intriguing prices: Schwartzel, Charl 12/1, Johnson, Dustin 16/1, Garcia, Sergio 20/1, Jimenez, Miguel-Angel 20/1, Campbell, Chad 25/1, Scott, Adam 28/1, Hansen, Anders 33/1.

For all those who have not yet bet on the Open, a quick an easy way to choose where to gamble online is by utilizing the user friendly sportsbook comparison tool.

One last remark, today's weather. It is bleak and rainy down here in South East England. The forecast says the worst of the day will be from noon until around 6 pm. None of the odds favourites tees off before 12 pm. Rory McIlroy will be first, his tee time set at 12.35 pm. May the Golfing Gods keep these folks as dry as they possibly can be.
