UFC's Rashad Evans' Inappropriate Penn State Comments

Rashad Evans UFC

Rashad Evans might be regretting the comments made about Phil Davis’ alma mater Penn State at today’s UFC on FOX 2 press conference.

Evans was sitting with opponent Phil Davis, a Penn State alumnus, at today’s UFC on FOX 2 press conference when he uttered a line that he will likely soon be apologizing for.  Although his line was likely used as a way to get into his opponent’s head, you can bet that “I’mma put my hands on you worse than that dude did to those other kids at Penn State” is sure to be lambasted in the media.  With the sport trying to gain mainstream acceptance, it is possible that UFC President Dana White might have to hand out some sort of fine.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, it actually took some pressure off Davis in regards to the Penn State situation.  The former Penn State wrestler had angered the masses earlier in the week when he stated that “If you’re in a law enforcement position and your superior says let so and so go, you’ve got to follow your protocol.  You can’t just go ‘this is the law and I want to play this the way I want to play it.” in regards to football coach Joe Paterno not reporting the incident to the police when he learned of a possible crime.

Davis and Evans will be able to finally put the talking behind them and get to fighting on January 28th, 2010 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.  The 3 fights set to be shown live on the UFC on FOX 2 fight card are Evans vs. Davis, Chael Sonnen vs. Mark Munoz, and Michael Bisping vs. Demian Maia.  With a card featuring big talkers like Sonnen and Bisping, it’s almost unimaginable that Davis and Evans are the ones making media comments in poor taste.
