2011 MLB All-Star Game: Odds & Predictions

2011 MLB All-Star Game

Let’s check out the odds and make some predictions in the 2011 MLB All-Star game.

The National League squad is the slim -113 betting favorite over the American League in the 2011 MLB All-Star game, and our betting predictions will let you know the best bet here.  The winner of the MLB All-Star game will claim home field advantage in the World Series, so both teams will be trying hard to get the victory to support their respective league.  This year’s clash will be played at Chase Field in Phoenix Arizona, and you can catch all of the action live on the FOX channel.

The National League squad had come up empty in 13 straight tries before finally pulling out a 3-1 victory last year at Angel Stadium, and a starting pitcher has still not yet been named.  I’d assume that Philadelphia pitcher Roy Halladay will get the start, followed by Cole Hamels, Tim Lincecum, Clayton Kershaw, and Cliff Lee.   This squad is led by first baseman Prince Fielder, shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, and outfielder Ryan Braun.

Opposing them will be a tough American League squad that will be going with Jered Weaver (11-4, 0.91 WHIP, 1.86 ERA) on the mound.  Boston’s Adrian Gonzalez, Toronto’s Jose Bautista, and Texas’ Josh Hamilton highlight a heavy-hitting side, and I’d give the American League roster a slight edge in offensive potential.  Backing up Weaver will be Seattle’s Felix Hernandez, New York’s C.C. Sabathia, Detroit’s Justin Verlander, and Boston’s Josh Beckett.

Although the National League finally got the win to break the long losing streak last time out, ultimately I think that the American League’s offensive advantage will be the key to this game.  You can get the A.L. at an underdog price and I’m going to call for them to get the win while the N.L. struggles to generate offense.
