2014 World Cup Odds Released
Written by Jake Thompson

Betting odds are already up on the eventual winner of the 2014 World Cup.
Although Spain was the best during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, they are not currently the wagering favorite according to the betting odds for the 2014 World Cup. Brazil is listed as the most likely 2014 World Cup winner, and you can get a chunk of the action on them at 7/2 odds. Spain comes in at 9/2, with Argentina rounding out the top 3 at 11/2.
Germany has finished top 3 in the last 3 World Cups, and can be had for 11/1 odds if you think the team finally breaks through to claim their spot as the best in the world. The Netherlands took 2nd place in last year’s tournament and is available at 10/1. England was disappointing in last year’s World Cup, but their 12/1 odds seem to indicate that the bookies believe a rebound is in order. Italy took home top honors in the 2006 World Cup and is also listed at 12/1 odds following a lackluster 2010 tournament.
France won the World Cup in 1998 and finished 2nd in 2006, and you can bet on the French at 20/1 odds if you think they can get back on track after a problem-filled run last time out. Uruguay surprised everyone in pulling off a 4th place finish last year and is listed at 33/1 for the 2014 World Cup. Other long shots include Portugal at 25/1, Chile at 40/1, the United States of America at 80/1, and Mexico at 80/1. With so many years remaining until the tournament there can be plenty of change, so the field (all other teams) bet returns just 3/2 odds at this point in time.
Brazil leads everyone in World Cup wins with 5, while Italy (4), Germany (3), Uruguay (2), Argentina (2), England (1), France (1), and Spain (1) are also looking for repeat performances. Brazil is the home county for the 2014 World Cup and they are deserving favorites as far as I’m concerned. Being at home with a slew of talented players will make Brazil the team to beat, and I’m calling for them to get their 3rd World Cup victory over the course of the last 6 tournaments.
