Chris Leben vs. Wanderlei Silva at UFC 132

Chris Leben and Wanderlei Silva are now scheduled to fight at UFC 132.
Two of the most exciting knockout artists in the sport are set to finally give fans the dream matchup they’ve been asking for as it was announced today that Wanderlei Silva and Chris Leben would meet up at UFC 132 on July 2nd. Largely regarded as two fighters you never want to stand and trade blows with, Leben and Silva both pack a ton of power and this UFC 132 fight appears extremely unlikely to go to the judge’s scorecards.
Wanderlei Silva has a 33-10-1 career record with 23 wins coming by knockout or technical knockout. Silva has suffered 3 knockout losses in his last 6 fights but does have notable wins over Michael Bisping, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Keith Jardine, Ricardo Arona, Kazushi Sakuraba, and Dan Henderson. All of Silva’s career losses were to some of the sports’ most accomplished heavy hitters, and it will be interesting to see if Wanderlei can crack the iron jaw of Leben before getting hit with a big shot.
Chris Leben’s career record sits at 25-7 and 13 of his victories have come by knockout or technical knockout. Leben has only been knocked out twice, once by UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and again in his last fight against Brian Stann. Leben came into the Stann fight with an illness and you almost have to excuse that loss because of how well he’s absorbed massive amounts of punishment in past wars. Leben has notable wins over Yoshihiro Akiyama, Aaron Simpson, Terry Martin, Jorge Santiago, Jorge Rivera, Patrick Cote, and Mike Swick.
Other scheduled fights for UFC 132 include a bantamweight championship bout between Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber, lightweight fights pitting George Sotiropoulos against Evan Dunham, Dennis Siver against Matt Wiman, and Melvin Guillard against Shane Roller, and a light heavyweight tilt between Tito Ortiz and Ryan Bader. B.J. Penn and Jon Fitch were originally scheduled to rematch on this card after drawing in their first fight, but as of now the fight is off after Fitch injured his shoulder in his training camp.
