College Football Predictions: California vs. Oregon Preview
Written by Jake Thompson

Score predictions are ready to go in our college football preview of Thursday’s California vs. Oregon game.
The game between the California Golden Bears (3-1) and the #9 Oregon Ducks (3-1) will be shown live on ESPN, and our predictions and preview are ready well in advance of the 9:00 PM ET start time. Oregon is at home and favored by 23.5 on the point spread, and we’ll let you know if the sportsbooks have the correct line here.
Oregon lost 27-40 at LSU to start the year but have since reeled off 3 straight victories against Nevada, Missouri State, and Arizona. The Ducks are nearly impossible to stop on offense, and quarterback Darron Thomas (842 yards, 61.1%, 12 TD, 1 INT) is leading a team that throws for 234.2 yards a game while rushing for an average of 299.5. California’s defense allows just 78.2 rushing yards a game and you have to like the fact that the Golden Bears have allowed an average of just 24.3 points to the Ducks over the last 3 meetings.
California’s offense is no slouch either, scoring 39.5 points per game while showing a nice mix of the run and the pass. Quarterback Zach Maynard (1073 yards, 52.2%, 10 TD, 3 INT) has been inaccurate at times, but ultimately he’s leading the Golden Bears to 295.2 passing yards a game. Oregon’s defense is allowing 181.2 rushing yards per contest and has shown some weaknesses, including allowing 31 points and nearly 400 passing yards against Arizona last time out.

Our California vs. Oregon college football preview is going to call for a high-scoring game with both teams capable of capitalizing on big plays. The Ducks are too strong to be stopped, but California has shown an ability to slow this team down. The Golden Bears have an offense capable of putting up some points and that should be enough to cover the point spread in a losing effort. I don’t believe the California vs. Oregon game will be as close as last year, but Oregon might get a minor scare if they can’t crack the rush defense of the Golden Bears early.
California vs. Oregon Score Predictions:
California 27
Oregon 45
