College Football Predictions: Ohio vs. Bowling Green Preview

Ohio Bowling Green Football

Score predictions are ready in our college football preview of tonight’s Ohio vs. Bowling Green game.

The Ohio Bobcats (7-3) and the Bowling Green Falcons (4-6) will meet up on Wednesday, and we’ll preview both of these teams before making predictions on the winner of the game.  The college football action will be shown live on the ESPN channel with a start time of 8:00 PM ET.  5Dimes Sportsbook has the Ohio vs. Bowling Green odds favoring the road-team Bobcats at -7 with a total of 59.

Ohio was a 49-25 winner at home last year as 8-point favorites, while the Bobcats went on the road in 2009 to grab a 44-37 win against Bowling Green as 2.5-point underdogs.  The Falcons have lost outright in 3 of the last 4 head-to-head meetings against Ohio after winning 5 straight before that stretch of losses.  The over has been a wagering winner in 3 of the last 4 meetings, and the Bobcats have covered the point spread in all of their wins against Bowling Green since 2007.

Ohio’s Offense vs. Bowling Green’s Defense:

The Bobcats score 33.3 points per game while averaging 260.1 passing and 205.5 rushing yards each time out.  Ohio quarterback Tyler Tettleton (2445 yards, 63.1%, 22 TD, 6 INT) has made excellent decisions this year, and opposing defenses can’t concentrate on stopping him because the Bobcats will just rush for big chunks instead.  Bowling Green’s defense gives up 200.0 rushing yards per game and it appears that Ohio will be able to choose how they want to move the ball.  The Falcons have been outrushed by 200 or more yards in 3 games this season, losing each time while giving up an average of 48.3 points.

Bowling Green’s Offense vs. Ohio’s Defense:

The Falcons pass the ball for 267.1 yards per game, but their rushing attack isn’t strong enough to give them the balance necessary to score more points than the 24.8 they are averaging this season.  Quarterback Matt Schilz (2556 yards, 60.1%, 21 TD, 10 INT) has been pretty good considering he’s pretty much carrying the offense, but he has Bowling Green averaging just 14.0 points per game over their last 3.  Ohio’s defense is solid against both the run and the pass, making it a legitimate possibility that the Falcons will again struggle to put points on the scoreboard.

Ohio vs. Bowling Green Score Predictions:

Look for the Bobcats to move the ball at will, while Bowling Green struggles to get much of a rhythm going on offense.  I expect the Falcons to score some late points against Ohio, but ultimately it is not going to be enough to keep this one close.  I’m playing the Bobcats to cover the point spread easily, and will recommend that everyone else does the same.
