College Football Predictions: Oklahoma St. vs. Texas Preview

Oklahoma State vs. Texas Football

It’s time for score predictions in our college football preview of the Oklahoma State vs. Texas game.

The #7 Oklahoma State Cowboys (5-0) are looking to keep their perfect season intact, but they’ll have a tough test on their hands in the form of a road game against the #21 Texas Longhorns (4-1).  Start time of the Oklahoma State vs. Texas game is set for 3:30 PM ET on either ABC or ESPN (check your local listings), and we hope that our preview and final score predictions will help everyone choose the correct winner.

Oklahoma State’s wins this season have been over UL-Lafayette, Arizona, Tulsa, Texas A&M, and Kansas, and they’ve covered the point spread in 4 of 5.  Quarterback Brandon Weeden (1880 yards, 75.8%, 15 TD, 6 INT) leads an Oklahoma State offense that averages 51.4 points and 431.2 passing yards per game, but they’ve done much of their work against some subpar defenses.  Texas’ defense gives up 22.8 points per game on only 216.0 passing yards, but you have to wonder how solid they really are after the Longhorns allowed 55 points to Oklahoma last time out.

Texas lost that game against Oklahoma but does hold wins over Rice, BYU, UCLA, and Iowa State this year.  The Longhorns are splitting time at quarterback between Case McCoy (451 yards, 66.0%, 2 TD, 0 INT) and David Ash (320 yards, 61.5%, 3 TD, 2 INT), and these guys are only getting better with more experience.  Texas also has a rushing attack that puts up 172.0 yards per game, and they’ll surely test an Oklahoma State defense that allows 165.8 rushing yards a game on 4.4 per carry.

Texas had won outright in 9-of-10 games before Oklahoma State grabbed a 33-16 victory in last year’s matchup.  The Cowboys have covered the point spread in 2 of the last 3, and Legends Sportsbook has Oklahoma State as the 7-point favorite for their 2011 meeting.  Bet on the Oklahoma State vs. Texas college football game at Legends Sportsbook and receive a 25% cash bonus on your first deposit!

It is impossible to stop the Cowboys on offense, but Texas is the home team here and I feel they can do enough to slow them down while completely taking away the run.  The Longhorns should find rushing room and I like how they match up against Oklahoma State’s defense.  This one is going to be close and I feel that Texas can pull the outright upset against the undefeated Cowboys.
