College Football Predictions: South Florida vs. Syracuse Preview

Our preview and predictions will sort out Friday’s college football game between South Florida and Syracuse.
The South Florida Bulls (4-4) are on a bit of a cold streak, but they’ll try to right the ship in Friday night’s clash with the Syracuse Orangemen (5-4). Start time of the South Florida vs. Syracuse game is set for 8:00 PM ET, and the game can be seen live on the ESPN2 channel.
The Bulls were one of the top ranked teams in all of college football after starting their season off with wins over Notre Dame, Ball State, Florida A&M, and UTEP, but things unraveled quickly. South Florida has since gone on to lose 4 straight against the likes of Pittsburgh, Connecticut, Cincinnati, and Rutgers despite being favored in all of those games.
South Florida does have a dynamic offense that is capable of mixing up the run and the pass, but lately they’ve been unable to convert it into many points. The Syracuse defense is strong against the rush but can be beat by the pass, which makes for an interesting clash against a Bulls squad that has ran the ball well recently but lacked much of an aerial threat.
Syracuse has wins over Wake Forest, Rhode Island, Toledo, Tulane, and West Virginia this year, but has lost to the likes of USC, Rutgers, Louisville, and Connecticut. The Orangemen receive tremendous quarterback play from Ryan Nassib (1960 yards, 64.9%, 18 TD, 6 INT), but they don’t have the rushing attack to complement his veteran leadership. South Florida’s defense is very good at taking away the run, so it will once again be up to Nassib to score points for Syracuse.
Predictions in the South Florida vs. Syracuse game call for both teams to have difficulty moving the ball and finishing drives. Each seems good enough to get some field goals, but touchdowns could very well be in high demand. The Bulls are 4-point favorites with a total of 51.5 at Legends Sportsbook, and those guys are giving our customers a 25% cash bonus on top of their first deposit.
South Florida is 1-3 on the road and their offense struggles without the run. Syracuse is 4-1 at home and we think they’ll pull the upset despite not looking all that strong on offense. Their defense will set up some short fields and that will be the determining factor.
