College Football Predictions: Texas vs. Texas A&M Preview

Predictions are ready for the Thanksgiving Day college football game between Texas and Texas A&M.
The Texas Longhorns (6-4) and the Texas A&M Aggies (6-5) meet up on Thursday, and we’ll preview both teams before releasing predictions on the final score. Legends Sportsbook has the odds for this Thanksgiving Day game favoring the home-team Aggies at -7.5 with a point spread of 52.5. The game will be shown live on ESPN, and the Texas vs. Texas A&M start time is set for 8:00 PM ET.
Texas A&M managed a 24-17 road win in that year’s head-to-head clash, but the Longhorns had won outright in all 9 games since 2001. The good news for fans of the Aggies is that the home team has covered the point spread in 10 of the last 13 games played between these rivals. The total of 52.5 has been bet down from an opener of 52.5, and part of the reason for the line move might have to do with the fact that 6 of the last 8 games between these teams have went under the number.
Texas’ Offense vs. Texas A&M’s Defense:
The Longhorns have run the ball very well this season, but they haven’t always shown the passing attack to become a truly high-scoring offense. Texas A&M has decent statistics against the run this year, but they’ve accumulated them by having to crowd the line too often. That leaves opposing teams with plenty of passing lanes and I see the situation presenting itself again here. The Aggies have given up close to 40 points a game against the 5 teams they’ve played this season with capable rushing attacks, and I like how Texas matches up.
Texas A&M’s Offense vs. Texas’ Defense:
The Aggies have a dynamic offense that scores 40.9 points per game while averaging over 512.4 total yards every time out. Texas A&M has the rushing attack of Texas, but they are much more capable as a whole because of their ability to pass the ball to keep defenses honest. The Longhorns have been excellent at taking away the run this year, but their statistics are skewed a bit since they haven’t played much in the way of high-scoring offenses. The Aggies have been outrushed in just 2 games this season and have still managed to average 28 points in those clashes.

This is a tough game to make predictions on, but ultimately I have to believe that the Aggies’ ability to mix it up on offense will be the key to their victory. Texas just isn’t throwing the ball well enough to take advantage of Texas A&M’s biggest weakness, and I think the Aggies get short fields and a few key turnovers that they can turn into points. Bet on Texas A&M to cover this point spread and you should win some easy money on Thanksgiving Day.
