College Football Predictions: Tulane vs. Hawaii Preview

Hawaii Tulane

Our preview of tonight’s college football game between Tulane and Hawaii will include score predictions.

The Tulane Green Wave (2-10) and the Hawaii Warriors (5-6) meet up in the last college football game of the day tonight, and our predictions will help everyone get on the right side of the action.  Start time of the Tulane vs. Hawaii game is set for 11:00 PM ET and you’ll need a subscription to the ESPN Gameplan channel if you want to watch it live.

Legends Sportsbook has the betting odds favoring Hawaii by 18.5 on the point spread, while the total sits at 55.  Tulane pulled the 36-28 upset in the last head-to-head meeting as 12.5-point underdogs in Hawaii back in 2002.  The Warriors will again be at home tonight and they’ll put their 3-2 record at Aloha Stadium on the line against a Tulane squad that has gone just 1-5 on the road.

Tulane’s Offense vs. Hawaii’s Defense:

The Green Wave have had a nice balance of the run and the pass this season, but their inability to excel at either facet has them averaging just 20.9 points per game.  Turnovers have been an issue for this team all year and things don’t figure to get any easier against a Hawaii defense that allows just 24.8 points per game when at home.  The Green Wave might get a score or two but I think their offense is fairly limited in what should be a tough road environment.

Hawaii’s Offense vs. Tulane’s Defense:

The Warriors have scored 32.2 points per game this season while averaging over 300 yards passing each time out, but are without quarterback Bryant Moniz (2733 yards, 62.5%, 22 TD, 5 INT) after the playmaker broke a bone in his leg against Nevada.  Hawaii scores 37.4 points per game when at home this year, but they’ve averaged just 26.7 in the 3 that Moniz missed action.  Tulane’s defense allows 37.7 points per game and has not stopped the run well this year.  Tulane gave up 73 points to another strong passing team in Houston just 2 weeks ago, so Hawaii should be able to move the ball.

Tulane vs. Hawaii Predictions:

Having Moniz hurt definitely hurts Hawaii’s chances, but Tulane’s defense simply isn’t good enough to stop this team from scoring.  The Green Wave might get a couple of scores but I believe they are going to be outclassed.  Turnovers have been a problem all year and things aren’t going to get any better in one of the best home environments in college football.  Look for crowd noise to cause some penalties as the Warriors roll to victory.  My predictions call for a bet on Hawaii to cover this point spread.
