College Football Predictions: Virginia vs. Miami Preview

Virginia Miami College Football

Score predictions are up in Thursday’s college football game between Virginia and Miami.

The Virginia Cavaliers (4-3) have a tough road test on their hands for Thursday as they get set to take on the Miami Hurricanes (4-3).  Legends Sportsbook has the Hurricanes as a 14-point favorite for the 8:00 PM ET game, and you can catch the game live on ESPN.

Virginia was a 24-19 winner in last year’s game as a 14-point underdog, and also shocked the Hurricanes with a 48-0 drubbing in Miami back in 2007.  The underdog has covered the point spread in 6 of the 7 games between these schools since 2004, while the under has been a winner in 4 of the last 6.  Bet on the Virginia vs. Miami game at Legends Sportsbook and receive a 25% cash bonus just for clicking our link to get your account funded.

The Cavaliers’ starting quarterback duo of Michael Rocco and David Watford has propelled Virginia to 224.0 passing yards a game, but they’ve also combined for 12 interceptions to only 7 touchdowns.  This team runs for 183.1 yards a game and would be one of the better offenses in the conference if they could figure out a way to avoid turnovers.  Virginia will be going up against a Miami defense that allows 179.6 rushing yards a game, but also one that has shown improvement in recent games.

Miami’s offense has seen excellent play from quarterback Jacory Harris (1244 yards, 62.1%, 12 TD, 4 INT), and the Hurricanes get balance from a rushing attack that averages 4.6 per carry.  Virginia’s defense has been strong this season in allowing only 23.0 points per game, but you also have to figure in the fact that the Cavaliers have faced poor and/or one-dimensional offenses for much of the year.

I think the Cavaliers are a strong team but you also have to figure in the fact they will be playing in a tough road environment with mistake-prone passers.  Virginia will need to play clean football to get a win here and I just don’t see it happening.  Predictions in the Virginia vs. Miami game call for the Hurricanes to take advantage of turnovers while doing enough with their offense to get the win.  Miami could pull away late if they can get enough of a lead to force Virginia into a pass-heavy game plan in a comeback effort.
