College Football Predictions: Western Michigan vs. Toledo Preview

Toledo Western Michigan Football

It’s time for score predictions in Tuesday’s college football game between Western Michigan and Toledo.

The Western Michigan Broncos (5-4) and the Toledo Rockets (5-4) are all ready for today’s 8:00 PM ET showdown, and our preview will take a closer look at this ESPNU-televised game.  Toledo was a 37-24 road winner last year and the Rockets will be at home for the 2011 meeting.  Prior to last season’s victory, Western Michigan had won 4 straight games against the Rockets, including a 58-26 win in Toledo in 2009.

Toledo won their opener against New Hampshire but then went on to lose 3 straight against Ohio State, Boise State, and Syracuse.  The Rockets rebounded with 4 straight wins over Temple, Eastern Michigan, Bowling Green, and Miami-Ohio before falling 60-63 against Northern Illinois last week.  Minus the 15-40 loss at home to Boise State, Toledo hasn’t lost by more than 5 points in any of their defeats.

The Broncos have lost at Michigan, Illinois, Northern Illinois, and Eastern Michigan in road games, but do holds wins over Nicholls State, Central Michigan, Connecticut, Bowling Green, and Ball State.  Western Michigan has had a few more days than Toledo to prepare for this game, and the longer week should help them prepare for an explosive offense.

The Rockets have averaged 39.1 points on 259.8 passing and 196.3 rushing yards per game this year, and they are almost impossible to stop.  Western Michigan’s defense allows 216.2 rushing yards per game and I don’t see them doing much to stop their opposition tonight.  Quarterbacks Austin Dantin (1332 yards, 65.5%, 15 TD, 1 INT) and Terrance Owens (952 yards, 64.3%, 6 TD, 2INT) have been incredible for the Rockets, and this offense is extremely dangerous.

Western Michigan has a nice offense of their own, averaging 30.2 points per game while passing for almost 300 yards each time out thanks to quarterback Alex Carder (2457 yards, 68.4%, 18 TD, 9 INT).  Toledo’s defense does well against the run but they have given up big points to teams that are capable of beating them through the air.

Bet on the Western Michigan vs. Toledo game at Legends Sportsbook and receive a 25% cash bonus for using our link to get started!  The Rockets are 12-point favorites with a total of 69 according to the college football odds there, and Toledo has been bet up a bit since opening up at -9.5 on the point spread.

Predictions in the Western Michigan vs. Toledo game call for the Rockets to score at will while the Broncos get some points but ultimately come up on the losing end.  Toledo is too good on offense, and they’ve averaged 47.25 points per game when they outrush their opponent by more than 100 yards. That yardage statistic is very likely to happen here.

Western Michigan vs. Toledo Score Predictions:

Western Michigan 24

Toledo 48
