Friday MLB Best Bet: White Sox vs. Diamondbacks
Written by Jake Thompson

Friday’s MLB best bet between the White Sox and the Diamondbacks should be a good one.
The Arizona Diamondbacks (38-32) are the home team for their 9:40 PM ET clash against with the Chicago White Sox (33-37), and this game has been selected as the MLB best bet for Friday. Although online sportsbooks opened up with Arizona favored by -145, the odds have been bet down to -135 despite public support for the Diamondbacks. These squads haven’t met since 2005, and each team comes into tonight’s game as winners in 5 of their last 10 overall this season.
Edwin Jackson (4-5, 1.55 WHIP, 4.39 ERA) gets the nod for the White Sox tonight, and the guy is a tough pitcher to figure out. One day he’ll throw a shutout and the next he’ll get rocked against a team that is struggling to make contact. Although Jackson has had success pitching in Arizona as a visiting pitcher, one of his worst career MLB seasons came when he was a member of the Diamondbacks last year. He’s coming off two nice starts in a row and will be going up against an Arizona squad that is hitting .265 at home. This park is a good one for home run hitters, and it is in Jackson’s favor that he doesn’t serve up many long balls.
Opposing Jackson will be Daniel Hudson (7-5, 1.28 WHIP, 3.82 ERA) for the Diamondbacks. The young right-hander has pitched well lately and is also another guy that doesn’t yield home runs. The White Sox have struggled to hit at times this season but are finally heating up with a .264 average over their last 10 games. Designated hitter Adam Dunn has connected on 2 home runs in his last 6 games, and his power stroke, combined with other Chicago players coming back from injury, should make this team a much strong offensive squad as the year goes on.
I don’t believe either team has a bullpen that is reliable in the slightest, and that means that the White Sox are a nice play in what amounts to close to a 50/50 type of game. Jackson can be dominant here and I believe that Chicago has the better offense. The bullpens make it a bit of a crap shoot, but when you are getting +125 odds on one side of a game that could go either way, it is a long term profitable situation to put yourself in.
