Monday MLB Best Bet: Brewers vs. Pirates

Pittsburgh Pirates

Monday’s MLB best bet will be on the National League game between the Brewers and the Pirates.

It’s time to breakdown the teams and make predictions on the final score in the MLB best bet game between the Pittsburgh Pirates (59-66) and the Milwaukee Brewers (76-52).  We’ve hit 91.7% of our MLB best bets during our impressive streak and hope to continue that winning way in this 8:35 PM ET game.  Online sportsbooks have the MLB odds favoring the road-team Brewers at -188 with a total of 8 runs.

Although Pittsburgh has definitely improved this season, they have barely been able to win a game since taking over the National League Central lead just over a month ago.  Right-hander Brad Lincoln (0-0, 1.46 WHIP, 5.40 ERA) goes for the Pirates today and looked solid in his only MLB start this season against the Washington Nationals (6.0 IP, 4 H, 3 BB, 2 ER).  He’s not a dominant pitcher but the sometimes-reliever can put in solid starts while going 6 or more innings.  The Brewers are hitting just .245 over their last 10 games and have not been nearly as strong offensively when on the road this year.

The Pirates aren’t hitting any better at .237 over their last 10 games and will try to improve on that statistic against Milwaukee starter Zack Greinke (12-4, 1.16 WHIP, 3.91 ERA).  The former Kansas City Royal has a 1.66 ERA over his last 3 starts and has won all 3 career starts against Pittsburgh.  The Brewers have won 9 of their last 10 games and it’s been incredible pitching from their starters and relief pitchers that has gotten them the victories.

I don’t really want to mess around with Milwaukee as such a large road favorite so today’s MLB best bet will be on the total going under 8 runs.  Greinke should dominate the Pirates here while Lincoln is savvy enough of a veteran to put in some decent innings.  The 8 has value with both clubs hitting so poorly and I think we can get the win here in a low-scoring affair.
