Our NFL prediction on the Monday Night Football game between the Chicago Bears and the Dallas Cowboys is ready.
The Chicago Bears (2-1) will head into Cowboys Stadium on Monday, October 1st to take on the Dallas Cowboys (2-1), and this potentially exciting football game will be broken down before we make a prediction on the final score. The opening kickoff for Monday Night Football is set for 8:30 PM ET and this game can be viewed live on the ESPN channel.
There have been a few recent clashes between these two NFC teams with the most recent coming in 2010 when the Bears went into Dallas as a 7-point underdog and emerged with a 27-20 victory. The Cowboys won 34-10 in Chicago as a 3-point underdog in 2007, and Bookmaker Sportsbook has made Dallas a 3-point favorite for Monday Night Football. The total here sits at 41.5 points and anyone who wants to bet on the Bears vs. Cowboys game at Bookmaker Sportsbook will receive a 15% cash bonus on top of their first deposit by clicking on our link to get signed up!
Chicago looked strong in their season opening 41-21 win at home against the Indianapolis Colts, and was also impressive as a 7-point home favorite in a 23-6 win over the St. Louis Rams in week 3. Their week 2 game against the Green Bay Packers was their only road contest of the year and they lost 10-23, so it will be interesting to see how quarterback Jay Cutler and company respond to traveling for the 2nd time in the 2012 regular season.
Dallas has been a bit tough to figure out this season and they need to display more consistency as the year goes on. The Cowboys won 24-17 as a 3.5-point road underdog against the New York Giants to start their year off but then were embarrassed 7-27 as a 3-point road favorite against the Seattle Seahawks in week 2. Dallas rebounded with a 16-10 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week but did not cover the point spread as a 9-point wagering favorite.
Making a prediction on Monday’s game between the Bears and the Cowboys will come down to a couple different points. First, Chicago’s defense has looked strong against teams that don’t have great passing games, but weak in the secondary against those who do. Dallas needs a top effort out of quarterback Tony Romo here because the Bears are capable of stopping the run. The Cowboys were outgained in the rushing department in their last two games and averaged just 11.5 points per game so much of their success lies on Romo’s shoulders.
Another key point in making our prediction has to do with how Chicago does at stopping the Cowboys’ pass rush. Cutler was sacked and hit repeatedly in the Green Bay game and the Bears’ offense didn’t have a chance. Dallas has a strong pass rush and is a tough team to pass on, so Cutler will need to get the ball out much more quickly than he did against the Packers.
Ultimately our prediction has to be on Dallas being able to cover this small point spread at home. Chicago’s offense is likely in for another tough night, while the Cowboys have home field advantage and are more suited to move the ball effectively. I would look for a low-scoring defensive battle and my top wagering prediction is for the game to go under the total.
Bears vs. Cowboys Prediction:
Chicago Bears 13
Dallas Cowboys 20
