NBA Preview: Rockets vs. Blazers Predictions & Odds

Rockets Blazers

We’ll preview Wednesday’s NBA game between the Rockets and Blazers with predictions on the final score.

The Houston Rockets (14-11) hit the road to take on the Portland Blazers (14-11) on Wednesday, and start time for this NBA game will be 10:00 PM ET.  The Blazers are a strong 11-2 when playing in Portland this season, while the Rockets have amassed a mark of just 4-8 outside of Houston.

Bovada Sportsbook has the Rockets vs. Blazers odds favoring Portland at -7.5 with a total of 198.  Houston was a 107-105 winner in overtime as a 1-point home underdog in the only previous meeting this season, while the Rockets also won 103-87 as 4.5-point road underdogs the last time they went into Portland.  Both of these teams have played poorly lately and our Rockets vs. Blazers predictions will let you know who to put your money on in Wednesday’s clash.

Portland has had some injuries to their big men recently but should be happy to know that center Marcus Camby is listed as probable to see action as he recovers from bronchitis.  The Blazers shoot very well when playing at home this season and it doesn’t look like they’ll find much for opposition against a Houston squad that allows 100.8 points per game on 47.9% shooting when playing on the road.

The Rockets keep a quick pace at times but they really aren’t a great shooting team.  Houston has some solid long range shooters but they’ll be going up against a very tough defense that is amongst the best in the NBA at guarding the perimeter.  One thing the Rockets do well is rebound the ball but it remains to be seen if they’ll be able to impose their will against a Portland squad that has a healthy Camby down low.

Predictions in the Rockets vs. Blazers game call for a few key factors to help guide us toward the winning bet.  I don’t believe that Houston will enjoy a rebounding edge, and I also believe that Portland will score at will with high-percentage shots.  The Rockets have lost by 8 or more in 2 of their last 3 home games, while Portland has won by double digits in 5 of their last 6 games at home.  Go with the Blazers to win here in a blowout as they take away the things that Houston needs to be at their best.
