NFL Predictions: Cowboys vs. Giants Preview

Predictions are ready in the last NFL game of the season between the Cowboys and the Giants.

Sunday’s 8:20 PM ET game between the Dallas Cowboys (8-7) and the New York Giants (8-7) will decide which team advances to the NFL Playoffs as the NFC East Champion, and our predictions will let everyone know what to expect.  Start time of the Cowboys vs. Giants game is set for 8:20 PM ET and the action can be seen live on the NBC channel.

These long-time rivals meet up at least twice every year, and the Giants were 37-34 winners in Dallas earlier this season.  The win marked the 4th time in 5 games that the road team has won outright in this series, and the over has been a winner in every single one of those meetings.  5Dimes Sportsbook has the betting odds favoring the home-team Giants at -3 on the point spread, while the total sits at 47.5.

Cowboys’ Offense vs. Giants’ Defense:

Dallas has a nice mix of the run and the pass, but it has been silly mistakes that have cost them this year.  They’ve put an added emphasis on their rushing attack in recent games and it seems to be working out well for them offensively.  The Giants have been a big disappointment on defense this year and I think the Cowboys will be able to score some points here despite being in a hostile road environment.

Giants’ Offense vs. Cowboys’ Defense:

New York has struggled badly to run the ball, but Eli Manning and the passing attack have been enough to carry the load.  The Giants also struggle with turnovers at times and are much harder to trust on this side of the ball when compared to the Giants.  Dallas’ defense has been solid but also has some question marks in the secondary that could allow New York to move the ball without the help of the run.

Cowboys vs. Giants Predictions:

Predictions in this game are tough because you never really know quite what to expect from either team.  The Cowboys are a better bet offensively, and I like them on the defensive side of the ball as well in this matchup.  If they can avoid stupid mistakes and turnovers, they’ll come out with a win.  The problem is that they haven’t been able to consistently do that this season, but my predictions will still on Dallas to win outright.  The Giants are just not strong defensively or in the running game, and those two things are extremely important when the playoffs start to ramp up.
