NFL Predictions: Eagles vs. Giants Preview
Written by Jake Thompson
Sunday, 20 November 2011 06:09

We’ll preview the Eagles vs. Giants game with NFL predictions on the final score and team breakdowns.
The Philadelphia Eagles (3-6) are just trying to salvage their season in an attempt to get back in the playoff race, while the New York Giants (6-3) will be attempting to hold on to their narrow lead in the NFC East standings. Our predictions in the Eagles vs. Giants game will try to sort out what to expect in this 8:20 PM ET clash, and we hope you all will be able to win some easy money along with us.
5Dimes Sportsbook has the betting odds favoring the home-team Giants at -5.5 with a total of 45.5. The underdog has covered the point spread in 12 of the last 14 head-to-head meetings between these teams, with the road team winning money in 7 of the last 9. The road team has actually won outright in 7 of the last 9 meetings, including earlier this season when the Giants went into Philadelphia as 9-point underdogs and emerged with a 29-16 upset. The over has been a winner in the 3 of the last 5 games played between the Eagles and the Giants.
Eagles’ Offense vs. Giants’ Defense:
The Eagles have scored 24.4 points per game this season, but they will be without the services of quarterback Michael Vick (ribs) and wide receiver Jeremy Maclin (hamstring) on Sunday. Wide receiver DeSean Jackson (disciplinary) is listed as questionable and his status remains up in the air. Vick has played so poorly that I don’t feel his loss is a big deal since backup Vince Young can fill his role as a proven turnover machine. Philadelphia runs for 171.7 yards per game and they are going to be tough to stop in that category regardless of who receives the snaps at quarterback. The Giants have allowed 4.6 yards per carry and I don’t consider them to be a defense that is capable of holding the Eagles to 20 or less points.
Giants’ Offense vs. Eagles’ Defense:
Eli Manning (2688 yards, 63.1%, 17 TD, 8 INT) has guided the Giants to 24.2 points per game on nearly 285.0 passing yards each time out. New York hasn’t had a running game all year long and it has been up to Manning and his wide receivers to carry the load. New York has running back Ahmad Bradshaw (foot) set to miss action, while wide receiver Mario Manningham (knee) is considered questionable. Philadelphia has been an easy team to run against this year and New York can score some big points when they are able to complement their passing attack properly.

Look for New York to take advantage of a weak Philadelphia defense, but it wouldn’t surprise me much if the Eagles find a way to keep the score close despite their injuries. I’m taking Philadelphia on the point spread, and would also recommend a bet on the over since neither of these teams has looked strong on the defensive side of things.
Eagles 24
Giants 27
