NFL Predictions: Rams vs. Seahawks Preview

Rams Seahawks NFL

Let’s make NFL predictions in the Monday Night Football matchup between the Rams and the Seahawks.

The St. Louis Rams (2-10) and the Seattle Seahawks (5-7) will meet up in the Monday Night Football game tonight, and our preview will try to hammer down just what to expect from this NFC West clash.  The Rams vs. Seahawks game isn’t one of the better matchups this year, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t money to be made.  The home-team Seahawks are currently 10-point favorites at 5Dimes Sportsbook, while the total is set fairly low at 37.

Start time of the Rams vs. Seahawks game is set for 8:30 PM ET and you can catch the NFL action live on the ESPN channel.  The Rams have covered the point spread in just 1 of their last 9 games against the Seahawks while winning outright just once over the past 10 head-to-head meetings.  The under has been a winner in 4 of the last 5 games played between these rivals, and the Seahawks won 16-6 the last time these two played in Seattle.

Rams’ Offense vs. Seahawks’ Defense:

St. Louis has been hit hard by injuries all season and it doesn’t appear quarterbacks Sam Bradford (ankle) or A.J. Feeley (thumb) will be able to go on Monday.  Bradford turned in a limited practice this week but it looks like 3rd stringer Tom Brandstater or the newly signed Kellen Clemens will be getting the snaps for the Rams.  St. Louis has failed to do anything on offense this year and their running game is atrocious, leaving whoever starts at quarterback for the Rams in a bad spot.  Seattle’s defense has gotten much stronger as the season has gone on, and teams have trouble going on the road to take on the Seahawks because of the high amount of crowd noise.

Seahawks’ Offense vs. Rams’ Defense:

Seattle has shown some improvement on offense of late but they still aren’t a dominant unit.  Their rushing and passing attack are both solid but unspectacular, and it’s tough to trust quarterback Tarvaris Jackson (2255 yards, 60.2%, 10 TD, 12 INT) because of his problems with accuracy and decision-making.  Seattle also just lost tackle Russell Okung, making me wonder how strong their line is going to be from here on out.  The Rams have been horrible at stopping the run but are a bit of a bend-but-don’t-break unit on that side of the ball.

Rams vs. Seahawks NFL Predictions:

I don’t see any way the St. Louis offense mounts much of a threat against the Seahawks here, and predictions call for the Rams to give up some turnovers while forcing their defense to start with poor field position.  Seattle isn’t a juggernaut on offense but they typically put up some points when the offense is able to run the ball.  I don’t see that being a problem and will call for the Seahawks to win in a rout as they are fueled by the rowdy home crowd.
