NFL Predictions: Ravens vs. Jaguars Preview
Written by Jake Thompson
Monday, 24 October 2011 22:30

Monday Night Football predictions are ready for the game between the Ravens and the Jaguars.
The Baltimore Ravens (4-1) and the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-5) are all set for their 8:30 PM ET Monday Night Football game, and our preview will take a look at both AFC squads before we make predictions on the final score. The Ravens vs. Jaguars game will be played on ESPN and the road-team Ravens are currently a 10-point favorite at 5Dimes Sportsbook.
Jacksonville’s offense has been a mess this year and they simply haven’t shown the passing attack to successfully keep defenses from cheating on the run. The Jaguars average just 137.7 passing yards a game and they’ll be going up against a Baltimore defense that has allowed just 14.2 points and 76.6 rushing yards per game this year. Rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert (717 yards, 48.8%, 4 TD, 2 INT) is improving every week, but unfortunately I don’t think he’ll have a good game against a Baltimore defense that can take away the rushing game successfully.
The Ravens’ offense has shown balance this year, but quarterback Joe Flacco (1278 yards, 51.5%, 7 TD, 4 INT) still makes too many mistakes. Baltimore will be without wide receiver Lee Evans (ankle) tonight and it will be interesting to see the offensive game plan. The Jaguars’ defense has been decent against the run and the pass, but they are going to give up plenty of points here if their offense isn’t capable of setting up good field position.

Predictions here call for the Jaguars to struggle on offense while giving up short fields to the Baltimore offense. I think that Jacksonville will put in a hard-nosed defensive effort to keep the Ravens from running up the score too badly, but ultimately Gabbert and company simply don’t have the passing game to accomplish much here.
Ravens vs. Jaguars Score Predictions:
Ravens 26
Jaguars 10
