NFL Preseason Preview: Browns vs. Eagles Game Predictions

Browns vs. Eagles

Let’s make final score predictions on Thursday’s NFL preseason game between the Browns and the Eagles.

Our NFL preseason preview will tell you what to expect in Thursday’s 7:30 PM ET game between the Cleveland Browns and the Philadelphia Eagles.  We are going to break down both squads and then make some predictions on the final score in the clash between the Browns and the Eagles.  Although many avoid the NFL preseason when it comes to sports betting, we win money year after year and hope you’ll take our advice.  For those without an online sportsbook to wager at, please check out our comparison tool that lists the strengths and weaknesses of the various establishments available.

The online sportsbooks have the Browns vs. Eagles odds favoring Philadelphia at -7.5 on the point spread and a total set at 38.5.  Close to 60% of tracked bettors are taking the home-team Eagles and much of that has to do with head coach Andy Reid playing his starters much longer in week 3 of the NFL preseason than in any of the other weeks.  There are numerous reasons to expect the Eagles to put up big points.  First off, the Philadelphia starters are expected to play into the 3rd quarter.  Second, quarterback Mike Kafka has been incredible in the later quarters of these NFL preseason games and Vince Young should do better in his 3rd start in the new offense.  Third, Cleveland has allowed 47 points through 2 preseason games and doesn’t look overly strong on that side of the ball.

New Cleveland coach Pat Shurmur is planning to play his starters for at least a half and you have to like the Browns’ first string offense after they put up 35 1st half points in their two preseason games.  I am hearing that Cleveland running back Peyton Hillis might sit out with a sore back but I don’t think it affects the final score predictions in a large way.  The Browns do have the experienced Seneca Wallace at quarterback for the final quarter and it wouldn’t surprise me if Cleveland added on some late points.

Ultimately, Philadelphia is healthier and Reid generally doesn’t hold much back in week 3 of the preseason.  The Eagles have better quarterbacks and their defense should be able to slow down the Browns’ impressive attack.  I don’t see Cleveland being able to stop Philadelphia from moving the ball throughout this game and our NFL predictions will be on the Eagles winning big as the total goes over the number.

Browns vs. Eagles Final Score Predictions:

Browns 17

Eagles 30
