Sunday MLB Best Bet: Blue Jays vs. Athletics
Written by Jake Thompson

We are going for 4 in a row in Sunday’s MLB best bet between the Athletics and the Blue Jays.
The Toronto Blue Jays (64-62) and the Oakland Athletics (57-69) are set to meet up at 4:05 PM ET today, and this American League clash has been selected as the Sunday MLB best bet. Online sportsbooks have the MLB odds favoring the home-team Athletics at -115 with a total of 8.5. Oakland has won 5 of the last 7 head-to-head meetings this season.
The Blue Jays will start left-hander Luis Perez (2-2, 1.40 WHIP, 3.71 ERA), and this will be the relievers first start of the season. Perez was a minor league starter and will be helped by the fact that the Athletics hit just .234 against southpaws. The Athletics lack pop on offense and their .234 average over their last 10 games doesn’t exactly instill confidence in Oakland putting a ton of runs on the board today.
Oakland will counter with right-hander Guillermo Moscoso (6-6, 1.23 WHIP, 3.48 ERA). Moscoso allowed 1 earned run over 6.0 innings in his only career start against the Blue Jays and has been pitching well lately. The bad news for the Athletics is that Moscoso isn’t a dominant pitcher and Toronto should be able to hit him better in their 2nd try. Unfortunately for the Blue Jays, they are hitting just .241 over their last 10 games and have first baseman Adam Lind listed as doubtful while slugging right fielder Jose Bautista is questionable.
Toronto’s bullpen is far from a sure thing but I think you have to make your bets on the Blue Jays to get the win here. Their starting pitcher has a better chance of success and I really just don’t trust Moscoso despite his success of late. He’s not a horrible pitcher but he’s due for a bad start and I think the Blue Jays will figure him out this time around.
