Transitions Championship Preview

The PGA Tour is in Florida this week for the Transitions Championship where Jim Furyk is the defending champion.
It is another strong field this week led by Martin Kaymer who is the top ranked player in the world. Last week’s winner Nick Watney is also in the field along with Paul Casey and Padraig Harrington.
The Transitions Championship has had a variety of sponsors and began as the Tampa Bay Classic back in 2000. The Copperhead course at Innisbrook is one of the tougher courses on the PGA Tour and last year it was rated as the 13th toughest course. Last year it was Jim Furyk hanging on for a one shot win over K.J. Choi.
The two favorites at bookies SBG Global.com this week are Kaymer and Watney. Kaymer played well in the first two rounds last week at Doral but then played poorly on the weekend. Watney won last week and it was not a fluke as he leads the PGA Tour in scoring average this golf betting season. Kaymer and Watney are each 9-1 in golf odds this week at SBG.
If you are looking for some longshots this week then you have quite a few golfers to consider. The field is loaded with talent and all of the other golfers in the field are listed with odds of 23-1 or more. Bubba Watson is having another excellent season and he is listed at 30-1. Watson didn’t play last week at Doral because he had the flu. This will be his first start since finishing fourth in the Match Play Championship. Watson leads the PGA Tour in greens and is fourth in birdie average. He finished in third place in this event last year.
This has been an event through the years where older players have done well and that could mean a good week for Vijay Singh. He won this event in 2004. He is 10th on the PGA Tour in adjusted scoring average and he has odds of 25-1. We mentioned Furyk and Choi earlier as they were first and second in this event last year. They are each 30-1. Martin Laird played well last week at Doral and he has odds of 45-1. Rory Sabbatini already has a win on the PGA Tour this year and he has odds of 55-1.
